So, I have been watching the game Spore for awhile, and I think it looks extremely interesting, something you could kill a hour or so a day on when you get home from work/school. It does look like it could get a bit repetative, but so does the SIMS, and look how well that game is going...

1-10 on expetation scales...

GO!

Edit: One problem I see is not being able to be an underwater race. Why does land = more evolved than water? Look at dolphins, who are extremely smart... yet they live in the water! But does that mean they are low on the evolution chain? :O

P.S.- I have no idea where dolphins actually fit on the evolution chain >_> .

If dolphins are so smart, why do they live in igloos?

Oh wow, seriously?! I hadn't seen that, AWSOME! Now im torn between aquatic or arial civilization... hmmm!

So, does it have any goals in-game that allow you to feel accomplishment? If you know, that is Razz.

Arial as in you can fly and build a sky scraper type city if you want. I don't think you can make a city suspended in air though. But there are videos of creatures with wings, airplane like structures and you can build high and such. And there are videos with under water cities and such. Game should be good.

Perhaps the one critical thing missing for a waterborne race is the use of fire. It enables the smelting of metals, processing of plastics, creation of complex tools..

Now you COULD debate that geothermic vents could stand in as forges, but honestly without separating the material from the water in some way impurities will effect everything. Not to mention the evolutionary adaptations necessary for operation in such a hostile enviroment...etc etc etc.

But yea, ive been looking forward to the game for quite some time. It reminds me of the old game SimLife back in the day. It had gene splicing, evolutionary adaptation, environmental factors....and the ability to nuke the planet and enable robots to take over the planet and slay all other sentient life Twisted Evil

Ah...yes, I didn't think of it from a realistic point of view. Hmm... mmm... im sure there is SOME way you could get around that, but im just not drawing it up. Perhaps underwater cities ARE just too much to hope for pre-land walking Sad. Damn dolphins, hurry up and prove me wrong!

Also: It needs to have space stations Very Happy. You cannot have a space race without space stations! I mean, COMMMMMONNNN! I want to design my own station ,I get to design a creature, a city, its tools, etc... but no damn station! :O

This game is going to be the dogs proverbials. I can see myself wasting way too much time on it.

You can build your own space ship so I think that you might be able to transform a planet into a space station or maybe the ship is the station lol.

Mutiple Player Content is actually scaring me. I don't think I want giant penises and furries and raptor jesus's walking around on my planet. Even worse if some little crab thing walks to the ocean and giant friggen vagina jumps out and eats it. I hope we can limit at least some of the content that we get from other players.

Eww yes, that does seem like it could...bleh, although the vaginer thing sounds like it could be comical the first 1-2 times. And I dont know if the furry thing is going to bug me a bit, I myself love the...uh nvm! Razz

But what I meant about competition is here, locally on the forum, we post screenies of said race/city/ship/etc. and have people rate them.

I'd be up for that. I'd probably make like dinosaurs or something. or cat people...despite my saying the thing about furries. make like feline like ships and stuff. The other civilaztions on other planets would be like progressive, but on the cat planet we just lay around and expect other people to feed us when we're hungry and if they don't then we'll just go to the garbage and pick out the best fish.
