I for one dont go around believing that no gods exists. I just dont believe in the claims religious people make about the existance of gods.
So I am without belief in god(s). So as long as I am not confronted about the issue I dont think about it much at all. Thus I agree with what Raskolnikov said.

When I say I believe that no gods exist, my personal, implicit, claim is that no god concept I've been exposed to is logically possible or that, if logically possible, the god is provably absent. Obviously, this claim is only ok for the concepts I've been exposed to, but I assume that all god concepts are along the same lines.
But of course if someone were to define "god" as a household appliance, say, I could no longer rationally make my claim. However, I don't expect anyone to do such a silly thing.  |

All Gods are human concepts (atleast the ones we know of). Atheism is lacking a belief in those concepts. No belief, no faith.

Um... but you said that atheists don't have a relevant belief. I do. Did you mean that a belief isn't necessary for one to be an atheist? I'd agree on that.
(As an aside, I'm not sure what it means to lack a belief in a concept. Sounds kinda... weird.) |
