Since I am seen as a black person, it is in my best interest to care about what people think about black people in general. You better blieve it matters what people think about you in terms of stereotypes. That's half the reason why we have affirmative action because employers, universities and banks have their general ideas about blacks and let that seep into their professional decisions.
So I can sit around and not care what someone thinks about me individually, but if Joe Negro over there is acting a fool to some white guy who may be responsibel for setting the interest rate on my mortgage, I think I should care.
Personally, I do take the attitude of Uncle Vester about people that don't like me for dumb reasons. I couldn't give 2 shits if my fiance's parents don't like me (and I know at least one doesn't), but that's on a personal level and doesn't effect my life in any way....like if a stranger calls me a nigger on the street, what the fuck do I care? It would piss him off more if I didn't respond actually.....and it would really fuck him up if I smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

It still baffles me how supposed "freethinkers" even started a thread like this.
If you really want to do some damage joke-wise....why not joke the racists who actually believe race still matters? Makes more sens to me at least.
I mean a white supremacist could happen upon this thread somehow and jump right in, start posting jokes, and get a kick out of it and you guys would just be laughing it up with him. What do we accomplish with that?

that IS what we're doing! Race jokes are simply a form of absurdist meta-humor for freethinkers. Look, we know this shit ain't right. thats WHY its funny... its funny because of the idiocy of it, because of the absolute absurdity... its why the Geico cave-man commercials are funny.

As much as you might want to take it that way, there are a lot of people that don't and are laughing for other reasons. Like I said, you don't find it odd that a white supremacist can just come into the thread, lay down a couple jokes and have a good time at your expense. You'd be feeding right into the guy's problem, instead of working toward fixing it.
I ssaid specifically joking the racists would be more effective and not joking their jokes....because it can be taken the wrong way and that defeats the purpose.

There exists no more significant genetic difference between a black and a white person than there are between two people of the same race.
Racists make it out to think that race accounts for actual inherent differences between the races when it has nothing to do with genetics and everything to do with culture. Race means nothing. You can tell far more about a person based on other things than race....which is what moloth was arguing with CET about.
