Apart from family (and I don't know what religions are being taught now-too many prob), children get brainwashed about religion in schools.
Do they still have religious education?
Obligatory in my day.
What is it now?
I heard they teach islam.
That is WRONG. |

My favorite line by him...
"One of my mistakes was not raising you religiously correct" or something like that.
Anyone who is that religious will not be able to just repect there childs beliefs. I wish he did.
I told him once but then dont bring it up again.
__________
My mom is the type of perosn where on her computer my background used to be a man throwing away the three symbols of religion (like this forums) and a saying
"dont trash your minds"
She laughed it off and said shed never seen that before.
Shes great <3 haha _________________

yeah my cousin is doing R:E these days and he had to learn about islam,
when i was in highi school i had to learn about judaism, what they teach kids in high school is nothing more than propaganda imo
showing them just how peacefuly islam is, without telling them about teh critisms leveled at islam, but they do the same with christianity so im not to bothered about it _________________

I think it's terrible.
This is Britain.
It was bad enough having to go to assembly and sing and pray-what they do now? after the christian praying, do they then kneel and bow to allah?
Just plain stupid. |

My Mom is convinced that my non-belief is her fault as well. She's mad at herself for raising me in the Assembly of God, a bad one, mad at herself for not sharing jebus with me more (something she's trying to make up for now yippeeeee!)
My Daddy was an atheist as well but we never discussed religion except when it was time to argue with Mom. He died in '95. Love to be able to hang out with him now that I'm older & out of the atheist closet and poke his ideals around. What a bad ass my Daddy was. Bet we could spend hours picking on religion! _________________

So were opposites.
How often does your mom bring up the fact she made a "mistake"?
I really dislike arguing religion with my family, anyone else is fair game but them. _________________

She brings it up all the time. Mainly, it's about her being a better mother I guess? She just left here after a week visit and I handed her the copy of 'Parenting Beyond Belief-Raising Children Without Religion' I bought for her. Woops, it made her so sad to see the title. She tried to give it back but I refused. She then said her hope for the week wasn't realized and on prodding she just said "I wish we believed the same thing is all." (add sniffle for effect)
I can't call it disrespectful to my beliefs I suppose but she simply isn't getting it. We argued religion a few times within the week and her hubby actually followed me around the house witnessing--see evolution is all wrong and made up for most part, that's why he found god lulz.
Pure hell. It's tough to have to attempt to explain your stance to deaf ears. Especially with my kids around who were about pounded with god-did-this-for-me stories all week long.
I leave it as out of my control and not my problem that they can't deal with my stance. I'm dealing with it just fine! _________________

Just tell her shes being a great mother...make her realize theres nothing wrong with what you believe.
Different beliefs are wonderful, they make the world go round

I became somewhat confused once I'd actually read the NT and realized that no one I knew actually followed the tenets that Jesus laid down. He said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments," and it didn't seem to me that any of the adults around me were keeping Jesus's commandments, so they must not, in fact, love him, or they didn't really believe in him. _________________ "True wisdom is less presuming than folly.
