Our transient purposes and human love suffice.Theistic evolutionist who fignts agaisnt special creationism, Francsisco Ayala, avers that we need God to overcome dread and find a purpose for our lives. To oversome dread ,one gets counseling; t get purpose, one does that for oneself anyway. Ultimate purpose and divine love are illusions we can live without .And a future state is untenable.People transform themselves but give credit to God.My computer is my higher power that helped transform me and arguing for naturalism is one of my purposes . _________________ Fr. Not this shit again, didn't we just have a very lengthy discussion on "purpose"?
Yes we did:

As long as others cannot see that they have to make their own purposes, not God, this is a must! _________________ Fr. Griggs rests in his Socratic ignorance and humble naturalism. Logic is the bane of theists. |

That's my problem, I don't think we have purposes, I don't think God gives them to us, I don't think we create them for ourselves, I think the word "pupose" is a bogus word we're somehow conditioned to attatch to a finite existence.
Stop worrying about what your purpose is (you don't have one), and live your life.
Meh, it's in the link I posted. _________________ I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world. - Richard Dawkins

I don't know why people need to refer to anything as a higher power. I'll give you a power that is clearly stronger than us, whether you want to call it higher or not: nature. Try standing outside during an earthquake.

I suppose the only "purpose" there is, to stay alive long enough to pass on the gene.
The sole purpos of life. Any life. _________________ “The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see.” - Ayn Rand |

| Can some people give me examples of their "purpose"? Not religious people, I mean atheists. Because I don't really get what someone would make that as, the only thing I can think of is "live and be happy" or constantly changing it with new long or short term goals. |
