New Newsweek poll shows Obama with a 51% to 36% lead, over McCain among registered voters nationwide. Granted this says nothing of the electoral race but it is encourage. Obama and McCain were tied at 46% last month with Hillary still in the race.

Quote:
Freed from a serious fundraising constraint, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is positioned to mount a general election campaign on a scale the nation has never seen, fueled by hundreds of millions of dollars in private donations.

The strategy for Obama will be to spend 10s of millions in states that will be somewhat close to force McCain to spend money he doesn't have that will deplete McCain's financial resources in the real toss up states.

Does Obama's small donation Internet success reduce the influence of lobbyist donors and thus reduce the need for Presidential campaign funding reform?

Such a waste of money...

Seriously they could take that millions and invest it in things they agree with... for example developing new battery technologies and other assorted things...

Which goes to things like developing new gadgets and purchasing of new stuff. The f-35 and b2 and such... fucking beauty and awesomeousness. They are tangible things which can be used for their purpose; that is national defence.

hundreds of millions going into advertisements and lawn signs and billboards...

It's all a waste. Come voting day... those signs and such just get set into the garbage cans and that's it. Huge waste of money.

National Push by Obama on Ads and Turnout

Senator Barack Obama is drawing up plans for extensive advertising and voter-turnout drives across the nation, hoping to capitalize on his expected fund-raising advantage over Senator John McCain to force Republicans to compete in states they have not had to defend in decades.

Interesting article by the NYT about Obama's campaign strategy and how he's using the money.

No word from Mugabe yet. Maybe he is too busy with his own election campaign...

Yeah, it's a good question seeing as those tyrants most likely know what reaction the avarage American will have after hearing their endorsments.

Obama And Race: Most Whites Open To Black President, But Hate Groups Growing

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/22/obama-and-race-most-white_n_108503.html

Towards the bottom there is an interesting short video about 'White Nationalism' in America and how the Mainstream Media legitimizes it to a degree. It's a good piece.

I agree. Both campaign have been surprisingly formulaic. Very disappointing that neither side wants to offer a change of political tactics.
