This is exactly my point that black people seem to be the at butt end of most racial jokes, and you've done nothing but prove my point here. Some of you have said you want to do your part in ending racism.....and then this....pathetic.
Everyone can take a joke, so long as its in proportion. If blacks make up about 13% of the population, they'd expect to only be at the butt end of a joke 13% of the time.....its a little different when you're outnumbered AND you're constantly on the wrong end of jokes. Get a clue guys (and gals). You claim to know what it's like to be hurt as others have, but you're showing you have no clue what stuff like this does to your self esteem. If you did, you wouldn't do it.

It seems to me that most of the racial jokes I hear are about white people, and they're far more overt and "offensive". Then again, I don't really give a crap either. I just roll with it and laugh. The only time it gets weird for me is when I want to return the favor, but I pause because the same joke, but with races reversed is no longer funny. Hmm....where in the world are all of these white jokes you hear so often then CET? All I've seen so far is probably 2 white jokes and 4 pages of "other" jokes.
The reason dead baby jokes aren't generally considered funny is because babies are defenseless....same goes for minorities (obviously more defensible than dead babies), but it's a terrible feeling to be joked on and feel outnumbered, no matter how "funny" the joke is. i've always found jokes about the majority (whatever that may be... religion, politics, race) funnier than others. I guess.. perhaps, because there are so many MORE of the majority, there's more of a chance that the joke is actually true!

But at least think about what you're doing and realize that not everyone that hears the joke can take it as lightly as you are. there are a great number of white people that will hear the joke as its circulated and it will reinforce their stereotype and treatment of the people you're "joking". This may be a "reality filter" thing. It seems like I'm always hearing jokes that basically work off of the framework that white people are dorks, and black people are cool. Hell, that's 50% of the comedy material at The Apollo or Comedy Def Jams. _________________ Namaste,
