yeah I heard of those, and am planning to buy the collection at some point.

as for the above video, it differs from the "pickin' on" series which puts a bluegrass spin on the music (which I like) , but the violinist above actually manages to make the violin sound almost like a rock guitar. I didn't even know you could do that! Laughing

That was coolest thing I've seen done in a very long time.

I dislike heavy rock, and that includes this guys performance, but I can still appreciate talent when I see it. this guy is awesome. making a violin sound like a rock n roll guitar is just simply amazing to me.

I was thinking "it better be Eruption" before I actually clicked on it. I'm not a fan of Van Halen, but he did a decent job.

Oh, and nobody's mentioned Hayseed Dixie yet. Laughing

There's another guy on youtube called Rudolph Haken who does "Eruption" on an electric violin.

He's wearing leather pants, though... soooo... be warned.

That's the link to the Haken video, with him on electric viola. Check out how the horses come out of the barn for a closer look. Very Happy

There's always the cello quartet "Apocalyptica", which has done several Metallica covers, including an entire album of them.

Here is their cover of "One" from Metallica's _...And Justice For All_.

I wouldn't consider Van Halen to be 'heavy rock', but maybe Tool qualifies.

Check out a String tribute to 'Sober'
