Episcopal priest given ultimatum

Quote:
There are moments these days when the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding sits outside a church or a Muslim gathering, wondering if she will be welcome at either.

It didn't use to be this way. But now, six months away from what is almost certain to be her defrocking, the Episcopal priest who announced last year that she had also become a Muslim remains steadfast in her belief that she was called to both faiths but says her decision to follow that call has been exceedingly painful at times.

[...]
Quote:
Following both faiths "is a gift," she said. "I feel privileged to see God in more places, rather than fewer places."

I wonder how much she knows about Islam?

Retard! It's women like her that make me almost feel the movement to prevent women from being church leaders could be a good thing.

She is neither ignorant or confused IMO. I think she is looking at two major religions and seeing core similarities. That she didn't just keep it private is due to her reasoning but had she, nobody would have guessed the wiser other than that she might be an ecumenical type person. As she said, she saw no reason to keep it in the closet but she is willing to accept the fury Smile

PR,I don't think she needs to know every single thing about Muslim. She is a cherry picker which is not an insult in my book, just facts about every human being in their choices of religion or no religion. She is looking at the basic similarities which is the core message which is love which most of us see Muslims as focused on.

There are extremists in every worldview/religion who look to hate their fellow human being. Thankfully most of us on earth want to live a good life and get along.

I don't think that video is any different than the peacemakers who are atheist. It isn't a matter of beseeching god or gods although that is ok if it brings peace. It is a matter of not seeing the opposite thinkers as evil and investigating into the character, not the label. I just finished watching the u tube mentioned elsewhere, where a woman speaking out against Obama as an Arab has had to force McCain to be honest and say Obama is a good person.

Coexisting is what matters and choosing peace. You have it unless people let the mobs rule. So far we in the states coexist with many races and religions. Yes there is bigotry but there is also acceptance. I've seen decades of change myself and the peace marches of the sixties have not been for naught. Change and progress has been the result even if freedom isn't yet complete in this country.

@Shasha

My post was irony. It seems it has missed the target. Never mind.

Christians flee Iraqi city after killings, threats
Quote:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- At least 900 Christian families have fled Mosul in the past week, terrified by a series of killings and threats by Muslim extremists ordering them to convert to Islam or face possible death, officials said Saturday.

A New Era of Christian Persecution
Quote:
Not since Stalin's time have Christians been so savagely persecuted. But it is no longer communists who are the great persecutors, but Islamist mobs from Africa to the Balkans to Indonesia.

Anti-Christian Pogrom in the West Bank
Quote:
The western media corps largely ignores Muslim violence against Christians in the Holy Land

For years, media outlets have largely refused to report one of the most troubling aspects of the Mideast conflict ― Muslim intimidation and violence against Christians in Palestinian-controlled areas.

Hanged for being a Christian in Iran
Quote:
Eighteen years ago, Rashin Soodmand's father was hanged in Iran for converting to Christianity. Now her brother is in a Mashad jail, and expects to be executed under new religious laws brought in this summer.

We all worship the same god. Feel the love.

There is a systematic persecution of non Muslims in Muslim lands.
The world looks the other way. Nobody cares.

Missed the target or a lousy example? Shocked Razz

Irony doesn't work well on forums. No, I don't mind that it was what you intended or that I missed it. This is the internet Laughing
