today I gave a speech in a class at my college on atheism.
below is a video that combines the powerpoint slides with the audio recording of me giving the speech. as well as at the end, I stuck a picture of me giving the speech and an HBA website logo.
enjoy!

It's a really concise and well-done lecture, HBA. I don't think you come across as "arrogant" or any of the other stereotypes that might typically be made.
I like how you summed up a lot of the key points by dividing them up, one per slide (i.e. atheism as a default, the Argument from Design, etc.).
My only criticism is that one doesn't have to "believe" that the universe has always existed in some form or another. Existence is logically axiomatic. Nothing can "cause" existence without already having had existed. And it's interesting that the most famous theologians, Augustine and Aquinas, both believed in creation ex nihilo.
P.S. Bahaha, Michael Jackson. _________________ "Synapses are protoplasmic kisses, the final ecstasy of an epic love story." - Santiago Ramon y Cajal

Little comment on the one god further thing. While I think this is a great way to explain our lack of belief you have to consider that some people don't believe in Thor because they believe Jesus is God. But I'm going to assume you talking to a philosophically inclined peoples so it's probably alright.
lol why do men have nipples, very nice simple example.
omg lmao Michael Jackson.
Great show, very easy clear and straight to the point. _________________ We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all

Critical response:
Overall I thought this was good. However, you do tend to read your bullet points, which is the cardinal sin (HA!) of power point presentations.
Try to phrase them a bit differently than you speak them out.
Non-critical response: Michael Jackson? Hilarious. This thing was pretty good. Nice work. _________________ The constitution does not guarantee the right to own guns for sporting events. It guarantees it for the right to overthrow an oppresive government. |

Hey man, that was a fantastic summary of some really great points! When are we going to see the hillbillyatheist channel on YouTube???? This would be perfect for it. _________________ Q: "Isn't it a miracle that the universe/life/consciousness/myself exists?"

HBA - how did this go over in your class? You never really said.
Did anyone comment or ask questions, etc? _________________ The constitution does not guarantee the right to own guns for sporting events. It guarantees it for the right to overthrow an oppresive government. |

well the girl you hear at the end said I did a good job. the class smiled and snickered at my jokes, but that's about it. I plan to ask the professor tomorrow, what the comments were about me. (as each of us give our speeches on our chosen topics, the fellow classmates are to make comments on you to turn in.)
he may not tell me, but maybe he will, if i assure him, that I don't want names, i just want the gist of their responses, and want to know whether it was positive or negative. |

Good luck with that - if you get responses post them. It would be interesting to see. _________________ The constitution does not guarantee the right to own guns for sporting events. It guarantees it for the right to overthrow an oppresive government. |

I am not really sure what the point of the class is, but this assignment was simply us each having to give presentations on any subject with two or more sides, and take a position. I chose atheism/theism in defense of atheism. |
