That's as a % of the GDP. The debt itself can go up while the % relative to the GDP goes down.


Indeed.

Now if he had made a different argument, he might have had an argument. If you calculate the debt in inflation adjusted dollars instead of total dollars, you will notice that for 2000 and 2001 the debt declined.. That's a much more valid adjustment than percentage of GDP.

Actual commentary on the entire debt, which is 400% of GDP
