so its been a while since i did electronics in high school, and i was looking to brush up a bit before my RAF test,
Ammeters measure the amount of current in a circuit. In the circuit below all the ammeters are identical. If ammeter A1 reads 0.8A, what will Ammeter A2 read?
is the answer 0.4A, since its parallel to A3?
also does the R mean resistor and does it affect the answer in anyway?
if anyone knows any good sites were i can learn about electronic circuits that would be great since its quite worrying just how much i have forgot since high school lol _________________

Right, it's 0.4A. The current is kind of like a conserved thing through the circuit - it can't be used up or anything. So there's the same total current through A2 and A3 combined as there is in A1 - so 0.4A through each.
The R is a resistor, and in reality it has a bearing on the value of 0.8A, but given that's specified in the question for the purposes of answering it's irrelevant. |
