Rumors have come forth that ISP's will turn the Internet into a TV like service, where you pay for packages that include specific sites.
Article here: End of the Internet
If this goes through that means this site will probably cease to exist, or atleast slow down. _________________

It will never happen. Absolutely never.
It would mean that trillions would be lost.
Never. _________________ "One is all for religion until one visits a really religious country. Then, one is all for drains, machinery and a miniumum wage." - Aldous Huxley

Unless all ISPs do this at the same time, no customer would stay with their current ISP and put up with this shit. Never happen. It would devastate the world economy and put tons of businesses, especially smaller ones that might not make the cut, that gain a large portion of their sales and customer base from the web out of business very quickly.
If nothing else was learned from the Napster fiasco & other MPAA assaults on piracy, it's that if you piss off a bunch of nerds, on their home medium, they'll find a way of either completely fucking up your day or still find a way around your rules.
Edit: This would be like taking a step back to the heyday of AOL. Fuck that. _________________ "The very existence of flame throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.' - George Carlin

They won't lose any money. People like you and me will be paying, and the advertisers. The upside for them: control.
We're screwed if this passes. |

The ISP's might not lose money but basically every company on the planet would lose huge amounts. Multi billion pound organizations such as google, yahoo, microsoft and eBay would lose hundreds of millions.

Even if this does happen...There will be one ISP who realizes that if they offer unrestricted internet they will have way more customers. I'm not worried. _________________ Came out of the changing room, and absolutely fuck all had changed.

Ya know you can technically become your own internet gateway and ISP right guys?
If the system tries to fuck you, fuck it back. This will never come to pass, however if it did somne of us are ready to do what needs to be done to grant access to the whole internet, consequences be damned. |
