Same with me bro. Same with me.
Here were my Senior year grades (final semester):
Mod. Literature: 92
Government: 96
Educ. 201: 98
Com. 101: 95
Orchestra: 95
Algebra II: 34
*Grades are scored out of 100*
I HATE math with a passion. I can't grasp it. Period. The only reason I got my diploma was because I managed to pull off a 61 last year in Geometry (That's 1% above the pass mark) and had just enough credits to pass.
I know exactly what you mean about when parents give you shit about the one or two failing grades but COMPLETELY ignore everything else.
"TYLER! You got a D in math!"
"But dad... I got an A in everything else..."
"That don't mean shit! No computer for a month!" _________________ "Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, underwhich weak minds are servilely crouched. The emotional stress is just branching off this, "Oh, just give up and get a GED bullshit" my mom has been telling me the last couple of days because I didn't have enough credits to be a senior.
Went to regester today...
...and I have only taken 2 years of highschool, no wonder I dont have 3 years worth of credits. I actually have a sophmore's and a half.
And she refuses to fucking appolgize for harassing me over and over.
Yes, im an idiot for sucking in 2 classes, and the fact my IQ is supose to be 143... yep yep! (Frankly, I dont put any stock in the IQ test, but w/e).
Also, forgot my science grades...

Intergrated Physics and Chemistry: 84

I am being told I should just go for a GED, I spend most of my days asleep (I just woke up after a 26 hour night) because I dont feel like dealing with all this shit, I only weigh about 105 pounds (use to be 130), I spend most of my time in solitude, and no matter how hard I try, I always fuck up in school. I am beginning to think I need to see a doctor or something, because the only emotions I have felt for the last 2 days was a mix of sadness and hopeless despair, along with random spurts of nearly uncontrolable anger.
What I dont get is... I try in school. I really do. But for some reason, I always fucking fail a couple of classes every couple of years (failed 6th grade, 8th grade, and now I failed 3 classes in 10th). WHY? I am inelligent (I was reading books like The Phantom of the Opera and Dr. Doolittle (The guy who can talk to animals, think thats which it was) back in 3rd grade), but when it comes to math or spanish... I FUCKING SUCK. And for some reason, I always get shit for those two, even though I am insane at everything else.
My years grades...
English: 95
World History and World Geo:98
Drama:98 (easy class though)
Goverment: 99 (I missed one question the entire class [Did it in summer school])
Economics: 96
American History: 85 (I found it boring)
Math: 48
Spanish:21
...what the fuck is with that? Why am I so fucking bad at math and other langagues? Is there like a mental disorder that causes that shit?
(I am being yelled at to hurry up, so will finish my rant later) |
Dude, you are SOOOOO describing me 4 years ago.
I had the same math problem.
Same depression.
Parents didn't understand.
Here's what I did.
I got some extra math lessons from a private tutor.
I saw a psychologist and a psychiatrist.
Got my parents to understand.
By the time I finished high school I ended up being one of the best math students in the entire school.
I was prescribed Zoloft and took it for about a year before I decided I didn't need it anymore.
Parents became more understanding.
Then I told them I was atheist.
Everything I listed happened in chronological order.
It get's better dude. |

Dude, it looks like you're getting As and Bs in all but two classes. Only TWO classes! That's not sucking at life, that's succeeding in everything except two lousy friggin' classes that aren't going to matter, anyway. I sucked at math, too, all through school, and I still do. I just don't get it. Never even learned my multiplication tables because my memory is screwed up or something and I don't retain anything. Whatever, it doesn't matter because I haven't needed most of the math they tried to teach me, anyway. Unless you're going into a field of science, where you'll need math skills, I wouldn't sweat it. Coincidentally, I didn't do well in Spanish, either, but that's because I didn't try very hard. Now that I live in Arizona, I sure wish I had paid more attention in Spanish class!
Oh, and it sounds like you have some depression going on, too. Might want to see a school counselor or talk to your doctor about it. _________________ Kryten: Don't you believe that God exists in all things? Aren't you a Pantheist?

Hang in there, man. Maybe something like Sylvan Learning Center could help? I know next to nothing though, so don't mind me.

| Sorry guys, but anyone who sucks at math IS pathetic. High school algebra is a cakewalk. You should be able to pull a 90% average without attending classes... |

If it's of any comfort: I failed maths and physics in matric (our final year of high school). Fortunately, in the South African system, they average you marks out, so I had enough points to go to university (I was very good at language subjects). Now I'm a university professor, lecturing in Linguistics.
Concentrate on what you're good at. |

But I'm seriously, I'm really good at math due to my chinaman powers and I can not relate to your infinite sorrow.
