Thanks to Pikachu for bringing these two videos everyone's attention in the politics section. I thought it was worth reposting in the main forum since it's a big story.

Link

This video is the first segment and it talks about discrimination against atheists in very religious American communities. It's fine.

Link

This is the second segment and people just watch it. It speaks for itself. Shocked

LOL, look at how any anti-atheist comment or anti-Dawkins gets a couple hundred down votes, and normally you can't see comments under -5 (by default).

What's so damn hard about getting an atheist on the panel? They said there were a few million in America, and they can't get ONE? I wouldn't expect to see five continuous minutes of bigoted bullshit like that even on Fox News. They were as whiny as O'Reilly at the wrong time of the month.

Quote Of The Clip:
Debbie Schu... Shlu... the Jewish one wrote:
And what about this obnoxious Michael Newdow who went all the way to the Supreme Court for his child, the child doesn't know what's going on, to try and get "Under God" taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance.

(About 2:10 before the end of part 2)

So it's OK to make kids pledge allegiance to God and country, when they don't know what's going on. Try to stop the child getting brainwashed and you're being "obnoxious".

The evidence for my belief that almost all people are morons just keeps piling up.

Yeah, we don't need faith to come to that conclusion Wink

It shows the power of YouTube and similar sites. The story didn't get noticed until these videos were posted. After that point, BOOM.

Karen Hunter and that stupid cunt Debbie Schlussinger have pretty much zero knowledge over the topic. I'm waiting to understand what their standard is for "oppressing religion."

Hunter seemed to suggest that asking non-christian children to participate in christian rituals is an acceptable status-quo and is not part of any theocracy, and yet, by asking that people not enforce their religion in a government-provided learning environment, that we're on a slippery slope to a forced godlessness.

Hypocrites.

I think CNN pretty much PROVED the video they shot, after they showed it. Great job at giving a platform to a bunch of biggots CNN! Ya freakin hypocrites.

Hey guys, submit your comments about the show here: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?11

Here's what I wrote:
CET wrote:
Your two part story on atheism really took me off guard. The first part was an honest look at intolerance directed towards the last minority that it's publicly OK to hate. My proof of that is in the second half of the story. A panel without a single atheist, full of people shouting hate slogans. Take any one of those statements uttered and replace the word "atheist" with the word "jew", "black", "christian", or most any other group of people, and most people would be sick and appalled by what they heard.

"That's the one reason our country has not become like Europe because we have strong Christians and because Jews are not strong"

"I think (black people) need to shut up about crying wolf all the time and saying that they're being imposed upon."

"Christians are on the attack. It's obnoxious and they do need to shut up..."

I'm so disappointed in this program that I don't know how to even begin to express the depth of my disappointment.

I commented that way as well. I went as far as calling Hunter and Schlussinger bigots.

I was amazed that we got a little backing from Steven A. Smith. I have completely changed my mind about him. As for the rest of the panel, I agree with CET, the panel proved the point of the show.

I still can't figure it out when people say atheists are imposing on them by taking 'under god' out of the pledge. We are imposing on them?

That's a good reply. To the point and rational.
