This is at the peak. I have the "just climbed a friggin' mountain" look.
I told my daughter to put her hands on her hips like daddy - this just turned out too cute.

The last page was taking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to load because of the huge pics that I posted. Sorry about that. As you can see, I've edited my post and replaced the giant files with hyperlinked thumbnails.
Just another service from your friendly neighborhood Mr_C. |

A buddy of mine from the Marines came down on leave with his wife and rug rats to visit. He wanted to locate a crashed B-17G. He had a GPS that lead us straight up. I was wearing shorts....bad move. He and I were the only ones that made it to the top and I some how gashed my shin. We never found the wreck and had to carry the kids down...Even in the Marines I never had to do anything that bad. Ugly country up behind estes Park. He was in the dog house. _________________ Join http://www.sefora.org/

Garner State Park. 100% Texas, my friend.
I also hiked and fished Lost Maples this last weekend. There are Maple trees left over there from the last ice age. It stays real cool in the cavern there so they're able to survive. |

Ah ok...Ya ive been there myself and hiked up some mini mountains as well. Great park. That damn Frio river is just on the verge of being too cold to enjoy though.
Actually this past weekend I was tubing down the Guadalupe. Cold water as well, but not as much as the Frio. Just as pretty scenery though. I love Central Texas. _________________ A liberal is a conservative who has been arrested. A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged.

This reminds me of my last cruise, in Greece. After the MC had named all the different countries to see from where the people in the audience came, one last guy put up his hand and shouted, "What about Texas?" |

So what temperature do Texans consider too cold, 80-85 F? _________________ "The very existence of flame throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.' - George Carlin

The Frio was pretty low so it was real warm when I floated it on Sunday. It's usually not that cold this time of year unless it's close to flooding...
There are some cold spots where the spring enters the river though. Pretty crazy to feel a drop in temperature like that while you're just tubing along.
Next time you're in the area, be sure and check out Lost Maples. It's worth it. |
