Does the religious views (or lack thereof) affect any of your decisions while voting for a presidential nominee? I've met people before that said they voted for Bush only because he was a "Man of God." They had no ideas about his policies or political views, just his relationship with the fictional sky-daddy. Would you shy away from a Muslim or Jew being elected president if he was a good candidate for office?

You know, I often find myself wondering about that. I don't vote Republican in large part because I tend to be of the opinion that strong evangelical views make people more shallow. But it isn't like most other political parties have any candidates who at least hint to being an atheist. The only ticket for whom I voted that might possibly be an atheist was the Ron Paul/ Andre Morreau ticket in... was it '84?... '88?

As people tend to openly advertise behavior or belief they find admirable, I certainly would not vote for anyone who openly advertised their religious views. Especially if they're of the Southern Baptist ilk (I know, Bush is not Souther Baptist). It was when I first started hearing Bush brag about his love of Jebus that I realized he's as shallow as a thimble full of piss. His actions only confirm that, although his risk-taking behavior is certainly indicative of his past substance abuse.

Idc if people think that the sky is green (unless their silly belief impaired their ability). Only if they're capable to do the job or not.

It's only a concern to me if they're publicizing their beliefs. If they are, there's a good indicator that they're going to govern with the bible and not their head.

no, i don't really care what a politician believes so long as they indeed do their job. i wouldn't vote for someone if i feared they would be all to willing to make faith-based legislation (fuck you, president bush). and this generally applies to the evangelical folk, usually found on the right. but if someone can keep their respective holy texts out of the law books, i don't care if they practice christianity, judaism or islam. i would only focus on their political stances.

Ron Paul is a Christian. And yeah, I'd still vote for him (and have).
