This thread has what I call an "attention grabbing title". _________________ "Agnostics: Atheists without balls." -Stephen Colbert |

Irony in referencing Vanzetti and idealism in same breath? I think so... talk about a fucking depressing ending that was. _________________ Above the hive, beyond the lynch mob, where two and two always make four. |

Yes, I thought so too sir, and just wanted to make sure that GodlessRedScum was able to view my reply in it's personalized, satirical entirety. _________________ This space is reserved for inarticulate meat puppets who have no true perspective outside the refuge of quotation marks.

No irony intended. The end to the Spanish Civil War was depressing as well, but I can't help but be inspired when I read the shit Buenaventura Durruti said, even though he was killed shortly thereafter in a friendly-fire incident, the anarchist revolution made some serious errors and succumbed to Stalinist/Popular Front counterrevolution, then ultimately Fascist victory. And I'm inspired when I read the speeches of Big Bill Haywood, even though he died a lonely alcoholic, exiled in the Soviet Union, thouroughly bitter and disillusioned by the soviet experiment.
In a lot of ways anarchists are the ultimate idealists-- bitter disappointment, failure, death, imprisonment, torture, brutal oppression and treachery fails to stop them from believing in the basic good in human beings. |
