BAE staff celebrate dropped probe

I do not think that the real concern here was that the phlebs might lose their jobs.
The miners in the 70's have proven that. The outsourcing of jobs to abroad proven that. The closure of factories proven that.

No, not even the possibility that those jet fighters could be used against the Brits in the future.

No, it is the elite, who does nor want to be deprived from their lucrative profits from such a good deal.
Not wanting to "rock the boat", and upsetting our staunch friend and ally, the Saudis, that they might be "horrors" involved in sleaze and corruption, which incidentally, would also reflect badly on the Brits who were part of it. No smoke without a fire.

So, now everybody wins.

Never mind the sleaze and corruption. It happens all the time. What's new?
Move along, nothing to see here.

The silence from the royal family is deafening.

Here's 4 dots to connect. Probably insignificant.

Adnan Khashoggi - Dodi's uncle - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adnan_Khashoggi
Dodi Al-Fayed
Princess Di
Charles

A labour government in particular might be more worried about job losses than other administrations would be, since they are so dependent on the unions for their money and electoral base. Major job losses piss of the unions.

Coincidence!?

It was announced yesterday on CNBC
Quote:
The U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, and the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force and Royal Navy plan to acquire a total of 2,581 F-35s

That things a friggin tank with wings. It's got something like 3 redundant back up systems for EVERY system! If one hydraulic system gets disabled, there's 3 more to take over and make sure it can still fly right.

I read a story about an A-10 getting a wing blown off and one of the horizontal stabilizers getting a huge hole blown in it. The thing still flew! Shocked

On a side note, the F-35 is NOT going to replace teh A-10, they have different missions. The F-35 is a high altitude attack/fighter craft. The A-10 is a low altitude close ground support craft. The A-10 is NOT a fighter and would get it's ass kicked if it tried, but it can jack up pretty much any armor battalion.

Conclusion:
Don't worry, the Warthog is safe.

Very Happy I love guns! Bring back the battleships and replace the 16" cannons with 18" versions!

Gerald Bull is an inspiration of mine.

And the A10 is perfect for its purpose, blowing shit on the ground UP!

I just watched FutureWeapons in which the F22 was portrayed.
It is clearly the deadliest fighting machine in the sky.

Let's just hope they're better than the F-22's in C&C Generals. Otherwise the US air force will be defeated by 3 guys in a hole with some stingers.
