CNN projects Obama reaches majority of pledged delegates

With the addition of two more delegates from Tuesday's Kentucky contest, CNN projects that Barack Obama now has 1,628 pledged delegates - a majority of the pledged delegates available in this year's Democratic presidential nominating contests.

Read the full article from CNN.

In a word, it's over for Clinton.

Good stuff, I found what I was looking for here:

Quote:
Barack Obama on School Prayer
School prayer is a divisive issue because the Christian Right works hard to reintroduce it into public schools. Christian Nationalists blame the elimination of state-written and state-mandated prayers as a major cause of all America's ills. Barack Obama has said that "Having voluntary student prayer groups use school property to meet should not be a threat, any more than its use by the High School Republicans should threaten Democrats." There is, however, no effort to eliminate completely voluntary religious groups which pray. It's only prayer that's given official endorsement that's objected to.

Barack Obama on Faith-Based Initiatives
George W. Bush's faith-based initiatives have been a blatant attempt to undermine church/state separation through executive fiat. Rather than go through the Congress or have to face the courts, he just appropriates money and gives it to religious organizations with less oversight or accountability. To some extent, Barack Obama supports federal funding of religious programs: "And one can envision certain faith-based programs - targeting ex-offenders or substance abusers - that offer a uniquely powerful way of solving problems." In reality, there is little evidence that religious programs are better than secular ones. It's not clear that Barack Obama will eliminate faith-based programs and focus instead on proven secular programs.

Barack Obama on Science & Evolution
In one form or another, conflicts over the teaching of evolution in public schools have been an important aspect of the Christian Right's culture wars against modernity and the Enlightenment. Almost every Republican candidate for president has rejected evolutionary science; support for creationism has almost been a litmus test for Republican politicians. Barack Obama does accept evolutionary science and, moreover, he opposes teaching any form of creationism - including Intelligent Design creationism - alongside evolution in public schools.

Obama is playing it cool. There are still a lot of democrats that believe in God. However, I believe they are still more open minded than republicans when it comes to these issues.

Has anyone read Obama's "Audacity of Hope" book? I'm on the last chapter and I've been really impressed with it. He said that he wrote it on his own. I'd be really pissed if I found out later that he had a ghost writer.

After this book, I plan on reading his first book "Dreams from my Father". If anyone wants to talk about e-copies of these books, shoot me an e-mail.

Obama quits his church.

Proclaims he's a free thinker! Wink OK, that last part isn't true.

The FL/MI debacle has been settled.

While the compromise has given Clinton a net gain of delegates, Obama is 66 delegates short of the new total. Current count: Obama-2052, Clinton-1877.5, with the new magic number being 2118.

Our candidate gets a $500 donation from an ASSOCIATE of an EX-Klansmen and we aren't let go for months, this IMPERIAL WIZARD TODAY of IKA (verify here http://www.kkkk.net/membership.htm) allegedly donates 500x more and the media is SILENT.

Yeah I know, who woulda thunk that right-wing wacko hit jobs on Obama could be fake?

After all he was educated in a madrasa, hates the flag, won't put his hand over his heart for the pledge of allegiance, is a muslim and has been brainwashed by his pastor Jeremiah Wright!

OK hold on the last two don't even add up.... Laughing

P.S.

I heard somewhere along the rumor mill that Clinton may be dropping out tomorrow. (Tuesday 6-3-08 )

At this point, it can't possibly be about what's best for the country (as if it ever was) or even just the party for that matter. I can't see much reason for her to stay in the race other than she's a poor loser and only cares about winning for her own gratification and ego.

Clinton is still hoping that someone will assassinate Obama before the elections.

well...... if it turns out she does have the popular vote, things get interesting, although this has happen before (Al Gore)

This is yet another example of Clinton twisting the facts.

If one counts all ballots that have the name "Clinton" on them, and all the ballots that have the name "Obama" on them, then it is true that Clinton has more popular votes than Obama. Sounds reasonable, right? But this argument rests on a lot of horrible assumptions.

First, ballots are not cast and counted in caucus states. Thus, Clinton's math completely ignores caucus voters. If you include estimates of caucus voters, then Clinton's claim that she's won the popular vote already dissolves.

But there's more. Clinton's math also counts Michigan, where Obama wasn't even on the ballot. Thus, her estimates include that state's votes for her, but gives Obama none.

Finally, she includes the votes received in Florida; a state where neither campaigned and both agreed that it would not count.

If you buy these three conditions, then Clinton's math adds up. I'll leave it for you to decide whether or not this is a fair assessment of the matter, however.
