CNN projects Obama reaches majority of pledged delegates
With the addition of two more delegates from Tuesday's Kentucky contest, CNN projects that Barack Obama now has 1,628 pledged delegates - a majority of the pledged delegates available in this year's Democratic presidential nominating contests.

It's not clear that Barack Obama will eliminate faith-based programs and focus instead on proven secular programs.
Barack Obama on Science & Evolution
In one form or another, conflicts over the teaching of evolution in public schools have been an important aspect of the Christian Right's culture wars against modernity and the Enlightenment. Almost every Republican candidate for president has rejected evolutionary science; support for creationism has almost been a litmus test for Republican politicians. Barack Obama does accept evolutionary science and, moreover, he opposes teaching any form of creationism - including Intelligent Design creationism - alongside evolution in public schools. |
Obama is playing it cool. There are still a lot of democrats that believe in God. However, I believe they are still more open minded than republicans when it comes to these issues.

Has anyone read Obama's "Audacity of Hope" book? I'm on the last chapter and I've been really impressed with it. He said that he wrote it on his own. I'd be really pissed if I found out later that he had a ghost writer.
After this book, I plan on reading his first book "Dreams from my Father". If anyone wants to talk about e-copies of these books, shoot me an e-mail.

The FL/MI debacle has been settled.
While the compromise has given Clinton a net gain of delegates, Obama is 66 delegates short of the new total. Current count: Obama-2052, Clinton-1877.5, with the new magic number being 2118.

At this point, it can't possibly be about what's best for the country (as if it ever was) or even just the party for that matter. I can't see much reason for her to stay in the race other than she's a poor loser and only cares about winning for her own gratification and ego.

This is yet another example of Clinton twisting the facts.
If one counts all ballots that have the name "Clinton" on them, and all the ballots that have the name "Obama" on them, then it is true that Clinton has more popular votes than Obama. Sounds reasonable, right? But this argument rests on a lot of horrible assumptions.
First, ballots are not cast and counted in caucus states. Thus, Clinton's math completely ignores caucus voters. If you include estimates of caucus voters, then Clinton's claim that she's won the popular vote already dissolves.
But there's more. Clinton's math also counts Michigan, where Obama wasn't even on the ballot. Thus, her estimates include that state's votes for her, but gives Obama none.
Finally, she includes the votes received in Florida; a state where neither campaigned and both agreed that it would not count.
If you buy these three conditions, then Clinton's math adds up. I'll leave it for you to decide whether or not this is a fair assessment of the matter, however.
