It makes no difference.

If a zealous Muslim decides to take Allah's law literally, the apostate can be killed. Then everybody will be looking the other way.
Apart from the fact that the family, community can make life hell for the apostate.

Sharia, (god's Law) superseding man's law every time.

But, we will not know what will happen to that woman, or any other would be apostate.

I see this as a pr exercise, 'look how tolerant we are'.

Islam is never tolerant.

No matter how oppressive or tyrannical a ruler is, as long as he is a Real Muslim TM, he gets a free pass.

In fact, the more brutal and tyrannical the better. Look at Saddam, he kept them in check. The new government, while Muslim, is weak, and chaos rules.

Muslims want and need an iron fist. They only respect force. Islam was created in the harsh, desert culture where might is right.

Modern western society cannot understand that. We measure every body else by our yardstick.
Wrong. It could be a fatal mistake.

muslims protest ruling on renunciation of Islam

Quote:
Hizbut Tahrir Malaysia, an Islamic hardline group, gathered outside the court and submitted a memorandum urging a judicial review of the decision.

'We outrightly disagree with the court decision as it is against Islamic laws. In Islam, a person who insists on leaving the religion must be punished with death,' the group's president Abdul Hakim Othman told reporters.

Apostasy, or renouncing the faith, is one of the gravest sins in Islam and a very sensitive issue in Malaysia where Islamic sharia courts have rarely allowed such renunciations and have also jailed apostates.
