So the christians claim God created the universe. But considering the only thing in the void of absolute nothingness at the time would be God himself, that means that he had nothing with which to create and thusly "willed" everything into existence. From that we could say that God's power and all-mightyness comes exclusively from will-power. So if you confronted God, would it be possible to destroy him with will power, assuming you have a stronger will than God?

This is just something I've been tinkering with in my mind, so if it sounds like total bullshit, please say so. I promise I won't scream "fuck you" 3 million times in all caps. Very Happy

There was (within the Christian and other traditions) an Angel that asked this same question. We call him Lucifer.

Correction: "Allegedly, there was (within the Christian and other traditions) an Angel that asked this same question. We call him Lucifer."

No, not allegedly. Within Christian and other traditions.

ahhhh, good ole lucifer,, thanks for bringing him up Mawst.
I ask you, my unbelieving friends, all of you much smarter than I, a simple question.
What does it really mean, when a perfect god, of love, of compassion, of forgiveness, has his own angels defect?
Sounds to me, like ole god may not be quite the stud he makes out to be.

Ho-hum... even if gods did exist, and you could destroy them, there would be those who would still believe. So in reality, or rather make-believe, god will exist until humans no longer need the jock strap for support.

Reminded of an old Kids in the Hall sketch...

God was small enough to be a jockey - hey, maybe he was Willy Shoemaker!

I recognized that fellow from News Radio, one of my favorite sitcoms.

God is slowly and gradually dying anyway as we speak. There are more believers now more than ever who are losing their faith in such superstitious beliefs. Pretty soon God will be totally dead. Unfortunetly it won't happen over night or any time soon. The only thing that keeps God alive in our world today is the mind virus known as faith and belief.

Actually it's really ignorance that keeps God alive and well today. Ignorance is what found God out in the primitive desert thousands of years ago.

One day, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and all the other religions of today will fade into obscurity and become just another collection of beliefs that nobody cares about anymore, just like all the previous religions before them. The only place you'll be able to find information on them is in the mythology section of bookstores and libraries. Unfortunately, some other religions will no doubt take their places and be just as ridiculous as they were. People seem to need gods, for some reason.

You know, you're partly right. The Bible says that "..every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord". I imagine that'll pretty much do away with religion altogether.
