There's a New Dog[ma] In Town. This time around, it ain't the Pope.

Ridicule has replaced dialog; contempt has outsourced understanding. Venomous speech has removed civil discourse from the table. There is no room in the "free thinkers" world for free thought much less free speech.

Peer approved conformist thinking is intelligentsia's totalitarian utopia. A heavenly respite where honey buttered words of hate and intolerance are replacing ideas with slogans. Hope is medicated with the psychiatric cocktails served up by the philosophical bartenders who preach their new dogma of love: "For the first half of geological time our ancestors were bacteria. Most creatures still are bacteria, and each one of our trillions of cells is a colony of bacteria" ~Richard Dawkins.

How predictable is science indeed.

"What are all of us but self-reproducing robots? We have been put together by our genes and what we do is roam the world looking for a way to sustain ourselves and ultimately produce another robot child." ~Richard Dawkins

The clinical sterility of minds has no room in the lab for wonder, amazement, and appreciation much less the infection of viruses from the human compassion family. I haven't met many a self proclaimed free thinker who hasn't shouted down, condescended, ridiculed, and bullied their fellow man over thoughts. The name calling tirades of insults and epithets are a horrific reminder of what preceded the two decades of skinheads and Aryan movements of the 80's and 90's. This new fundamentalist movement has narrowed the focus of their attack on religion, the religious, and their gods.

There is a seething hate flowing in the undercurrent of this "New Atheism" that is no longer indifferent to belief but intent upon its destruction. The peaceful non-believer has dressed for battle as a warrior against the faith and the long heralded pseudo-savior of mankind. A new crusade of fundamentalist religionists are launching their ships and setting sail for the Holy Land to stamp out the evils of faith in God; armed with proof, injustice, and hypodermic syringes breeding their concoction of "truth". After all, your life is nothing more than a chain reaction of genetic misfiring and unexplained random events over millions of years and must continue to move forward by natural selection or at the very least by the free thinker's peer approved selection of the fittest.

As co-leader of the militant atheists Sam Harris is author of the book, The End of Faith: Terror, and the Future of Reason, and Letters to a Christian Nation. He states on pages 52-53: “Some propositions are so dangerous that it may even be ethical to kill people for believing them. This may seem an extraordinary claim, but it merely enunciates an ordinary fact about the world in which we live." I'm certain Mr. Harris will oversee what is deemed 'dangerous and ethical' while redefining capital punishment for thoughts to be "an ordinary fact".

I'll end with some words of comfort. Here’s Harris in The End of Faith, page 129:

What will we do if an Islamist regime, which grows dewy-eyed at the mere mention of paradise, ever acquires long-range nuclear weaponry? If history is any guide, we will not be sure about where the offending warheads are or what their state of readiness is, and so we will be unable to rely on targeted, conventional weapons to destroy them. In such a situation, the only thing likely to ensure our survival may be a nuclear first strike of our own. Needless to say, this would be an unthinkable crime - as it would kill tens of millions of innocent civilians in a single day - but it may be the only course of action available to us, given what Islamists believe. How would such an unconscionable act of self-defense be perceived by the rest of the Muslim world?

Truly Frightening.

Truly Frightening is that Muslims birth rate is 3 times that of non-Muslims, and one day, they will surpass in numbers every other group. And they will press everywhere for Sharia law. Enjoy while it lasts...

God I hate it when the majority whines about losing their ability to discriminate against the minority and pose, like a raped 11 year old, a victim against the few who stand in defiance of their hatred and bigotry.
2000 years of murdering innocents and now, with the tide turning not to revenge but calling for mere intellectual freedom they cry for mercy as if the minority come with axes to chop away limbs instead of fear and servitude. Fuck all of you theists, cry to god. I am sick of you.
As for the Muslims, we will have to kill them all, you and I, and in the process, instead of sharing the world with those who do not share your beliefs, you will take that advantage to crush those of us who fought with you, just so you can rule again, in a dungeon of thought, a filth of hate, wasteing the humanity to the level of those we fought off, in the hopes that god will brighten the horizon with the dew frosted rainbow.

The ridiculing towards the religious is the same as any other oppressed minority feeling trapped and weighted down by the oppressor. The Christian Right owns America and it's not fucking right. They make up a shitload of votes and many rights that should belong to everyone is being limited because of that stupid fucking book you hold so close to yourself.

If it means fighting for our rights and the rights of others, why not? Muslims are stoning women and hanging homosexuals, so why the fuck is it wrong if we attack them again? At a certain point, the line is crossed and negotiation becomes futile.

In all honesty though, I'd worry more about HERE for right now than what is happening on the other side of the globe. Especially since a lot of it is happening on our soil anyway.

I can see the white blood cells fighting off the germs now.

I for one won't be killing anyone. If they or you or them want to kill me, so be it. My life here only has one purpose and I'm living it.

Well, I've remained antiwar while the pundits cried 'Holy War' posing Christians vs. Islam.
It sounds like atheists are the ones ready to drop the bomb.
I thought that the atheist POV was that religion was responsible for all the deaths throughout history.
Is atheism trying to change that pseudo-trend?

No, it isn't atheism.

Nice try though.

Edit: Atheists only have one PoV, and that is the disbelief in any deity.

Religion is responsible for a lot of deaths, but not the only culprit. However, religion is one thing that should've died off the moment we discovered science.

Don't try to disassociate yourself from the crowd. Sam Harris says we need to first strike nuke the Islamists. Dawkins, Hitchens, and Dennett travel and lecture together, so guilty by association. The four horsemen say they speak for atheism. So, it's a group and you're in it. And that group wants to start killing people.

"GUYS, DONT STEROTYPE, ZOMG ITS NOT COOL!"

"Guys, your an atheist, so you want to fuck over every one because Darwin and Sam Harris, your in that group, and waa waa waa im a fucking pussy".

Seriously, you have called people out on sterotyping Christians, then pull this shit. You ALSO did it in the same thread where you bitched about us sterotyping Christians. Do you READ a damn thing you type?

Does any one have the, "HELP, MINORITY ABUSE!" pie chart of religions? I think it would be beautiful for missionary to see it.

At least you got my point. It was an illustration of stereotyping. Ridiculous isn't it?
