Yeah, I have that on one of my Hicks dvd's. He was a funny fella, but I get really tired of that cheesy all black long riders type look. That was tired even when Fields of the Nephilim did it... Still, funny stuff...
I would like to take this moment to recoment that everyone get a copy of Julia Sweeney's "Letting Go of God" cd. Truly great. As far as I know it's available only through her website... _________________ “I think it’s also important for the President to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn.”

Maybe a still from the "With or Without You" video. Not quite Clint Eastwood western enough, but it'll pass..
Are Fields of the Nephelim still around? I thought they broke up over a decade ago... _________________ “I think it’s also important for the President to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn.”

i found pics of them online a coupla years ago... they actually have a cool, retro-tech, weird west, steam-punk, gothy kind of look to them that was exactly what i was looking for at the time. Dusters, hats and goggles. coolness.
yeah, i think they broke up years ago... hm... TO WIKI! _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

Bill Hicks' last interview in 1994 talking about his segment on David Letterman that had just been edited out because he spoke about organized religion and Jesus.

That bit was from his Revelations show in Edingburrow (where a big anual comedy festifal is held) iirc. Mr. 'I go through two lighter a day'had quit smoking by then, and started the show off by commenting how every cigarette now looks like it was rolled by Jesus and moistened shut with Claudia Schifer's pussylips. _________________ ~ Let us be reasonable ~

Oh, I just noticed Letting Go of God is also available from iTunes, along with the rest of audible.com's stuff, including The God Delusion. I didn't buy it, because I already have too many books, and I don't want to get a bunch more that I know I'm gonna want to someday ship back to the U.S., but I'll definitely get the cheap digital audiobook version (and it's unabridged!).
Edit: Oh man, apparently The God Delusion is not yet on Japanese iTunes, though The End of Faith and Letter to a Christian Nation both are (but they're not cheap! - 2400 yen for The End of Faith!). |

The thought of Bill Hicks alive today is an interesting one. Would he like, implode? _________________ We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all

CET, Hicks first brings up the Letterman issue within the first 15 minutes, but it comes up throughout the show.

Heh, I thought the same thing!
It's startling to hear how he talks about the very sad shape of US society in 1994, and how badly Christians had been fucking it up. Among the alarming issues he touches upon is the seeming need of Americans to subscribe to a nauseating conformity (any independent thinking is quickly stomped out), the rejection of dissension in any form, the wide and rapid spread of superstition, the lack of reason and the rise of stupidity, and corporate control and domination of the media and of people's lives and what the people are "permitted" to hear.
If he were still around today to see how those aspects (as well as others) of the US have gotten drastically worse over the succeeding 12 years, I bet his head would explode. _________________ "It worries me about religion in that it teaches people to be satisfied with not understanding." ~ Richard Dawkins |

I only had a few minutes to look at it last night, so I guess I just didn't get far enough into it. _________________ Namaste,
