Good shots Buckster! Did you get the Canon 100mm Macro yet?

I think we should get this thread going again.

(Looks like HBA stopped his site.)

I played with the Canon 100mm in the store for about a half an hour, but went with the Sigma 180mm 3.5 macro instead. All of the ones I just uploaded were shot with it. The top two (mosquitos) also had 68mm of extension tubes to get even closer to the tiny bugger.

Edit: See what you think of this: LINK

I updated my gear page too: LINK

Excellent. I guess it was cheaper too.

Amazing magnification on the mosquitoes. Good DOF too. Applause

Edit: Looks quite a good engineering project. I see lots of new gear too.

Good going. CS3 too?

Thanks. I did some testing of the lens as soon as I got it, and the 'sweet spot' seems to be around f/22, so that's what I've got dialed in on it pretty much all the time.

I didn't get as far as pricing the Canon 100mm. I wasn't going to buy it at the store anyway - much better deals online. I shopped around for the Sigma 180mm when I finally made my decision, and picked it up from Amazon for $659.99 (+tax/shipping).

Yeah, I've done some shopping this year, and still the list of 'wants' never seems to get smaller! LOL!

Haven't gotten CS3 yet, but I want to. CS2 is still serving me well, so I hate to spend the money to upgrade when I really don't have a true 'need' to do so. In reviewing some of the new CS3 features, there are definitly some that I could use though. I hear it takes quite a bit of horsepower to take full advantage of it though, so I think I want to upgrade my computer at the same time, and I'm not quite ready to spend the money for both just yet. I'd say within the next 6 months though, I'll probably make the leap.
