I realize the USA doesnt have universal health care... you are in serious need of Hearing_aids

You are clearly not capable of hearing the filth and disease which is coming from that.

my hearing loss is in volume. I have good pitch recognition, but it has to be louder for me to hear it.

I actually have the hearing aid type in your picture, though I don't use them for music, as I have in the ear headphones.

(except for my fiddle which is quite loud next to my ear and needs no amplification.

Im amazed I actually hit that on the nail. I was just making fun of your music... but it really did turn out you have a hearing aids... how hilarious.

Laughing classic irony.

in all seriousness though, you teased me because you think country sucks, not because of your detective skills. Razz

all music, except maybe rap, requires a sense of pitch.

I was actually worried that my hearing loss would hinder my gaol of playing music, but thankfully the audiologist told me my hearing loss hasn't effected my sense of pitch so I'm good to go.

In all honesty, The Rick Copeland doesn't know. As far as the dicograpgy goes, he cannot say. Their stuff was readily available at the time in locally ownder record stores so he saw no need to check the discography out...

Nowadays you'd be hard pressed to find their albums anywhere besides the internet, especially in Texas. Kaspell's got the Syd Barrett vocal sound down pat.

Nope, never checked them out before. They any good?

They're an interesting live act. Check them out. Really. If you're a Syd fan then The Rick Copeland must ask if you're a Robyn Hitchcock fan as well... Is "Miss Fos"?

The Rick Copeland cannot say. He prefers not to see cover bands. But they supposedly get an enthusiastic endorsement from Dave Gilmour...

I'm aware of his paralleled associations to Barrett, but I have so many unfulfilled tangents that I just haven't had time to fall down that rabbit hole yet. Does The RickCopeland think it's worth going through the small door for?

Oh, yes. Hitchcock is a great songwriter (and his voice can sound unannily like the late Mr. Barrett... Just dont tell him. The Rick Copeland once met Hitchcock (a genuinely nice felow) who got a tad pissy when a friend told Hitchcock he sounded like Syd. The friend mean it as a compliment, Hitchcock did certainly not take it that way. He later tracked us down in the bar (it was a solo acoustic set) and apologized and talked with us)...

He's a yummy songwiter... And he did admit that Barrett was a huge influence on him, but that's obvious... Especially when he drifts into his stream of consciousness monologues on stage... These monlogues run the gambit from high literature to a discussion of the insect sex. His song lyric also can run the same gambit...

On another hand, try getting into the man, Tom Waits. He'll change the way you view music... Seriously... Or pehaps you already love Waits...

You know, The Rick Copeland hears you. He hated Waits for a long while until he heard Tom in that lonlely Wheaton record shop. Sometimes you need the right song at the right moment and it just recrystalizes... Like a seed crystal in the erlenmeyer flask of your brain. Also be aware that he tends to be more noisy than your clip represnts.

Also, you need to think about the voice in the context of the song. For example, was Lester Flatt really a good singer? Of course not. Now, can you imagine someone else singing "Salty Dog Blues"? Clearly no.

The Rick Copeland thinks he tries to sound that way. Seriously, once you get into what he does the voice is insepparable from the tunage. He can take a lame song like "Sea of Love" and make it amazingly painful Did you ever see "Fight Club"? His song "Goin' Out West" is rather strongly featured in a bar scene... Check out his live film "Big Time". There's a priceless version of "Telephone Call From Istanbul"...

It's like Wayne Coyne's voice. In a way...

I'm eclectic. I like everything but new-age rap and country.
