wow... i'll never understand how an intelligent, adult human being can so affected by 'bad' words.

they're not magical, people... they're just sound waves carried by the air, no different than any other words... jeez.

hell, they're not even SOUND, here.. just lights on a screen...

Wow, looks like I have been caught up in a squabble I had no idea about until I read more into Bob Black's writings and his former association with the Church of the Sub-Genius, which is a part of the icon of the user who I have been forced to ignore. Bob Black wrote a scathing criticism of the Church of the Sub-Genius, over which he was sent a small mail-bomb by one if its members.

I just want to make it clear I am not a Bob Black fanboy, nor a Church of the SubGenius "hater". I was just trying to explore the ideas contained in his writings which have been labeled "libertarian socialism", a term which piqued my interest because of its seeming self-contradictory connotations. Indeed, Bob Black should be considered more of an anarchist than anything else.

In any case, now that I have made the connection between the "Bob" icon of the Church of the Sub-Genius, said forum member, and the feud between these parties I understand more fully the level of aggression of that member.

secondly its not a violation of the rules.

third, I agree that politeness and civility should rule the day.

I'm not going to force folks to be nice, heck sometimes I also am guilty of flaming, but I sure wish politness and respect would be more common and the flaming less.

there is simply no need to be a jerk to people just because you disagree with them.

I say cunt too much. But its not a threat, infact sometimes I use it as a term of endearment.

If you get threatened by behaviour in a forum, and the threatening behaviour is naughty words I suggest you grow a pair.

And I mean that with no threat intended Confused
