this is true. i go to a christian college in tx on a soccer scholarship and if someone finds out about my belief it seems they'd like to kill me. but usually i just get a lot mean glares or bombarded with facebook messages trying to convert me and stuff like that. sometimes they treat me like i have a disease. however, in new orleans people mostly don't care what you believe. i always wondered what it'd be like to be up north and be an atheist. |

I don't know why, but I've had no problems (yet) with being an atheist in the south. Maybe it's because I don't shout my affiliation from the rooftops, but no one has tried to convert me or attack me so far. |

Like I said, I don't really make it obvious. I'd gladly tell the truth if anyone asked my religious affiliation, or what church I went to, or something similar, but most people just assume you're a Christian unless you have "one of those silly towels wrapped around your head".
