Show that got me in an arguement with my grandparents...

I was staying at my grandparents for a few days who are devoted christians, and this show House was on the episode was: Damned If You Do, it was about a nun whose sick and believed God will heal her and hes in her and if shes suppose to die she will so she wont get medical treatment, the docs and nurses pretty much said shes nuts and one of the doctors said "maybe shes allergic to God" and me and my uncle crack up laughing my grandma gets angry and starts saying "thats something a non-believer would say"

Then in a scene she said "you cant be angry at God and not believe at the same time" to that my uncle said "shes right about one thing,you cant be angry at God and not believe at the same time, because you cant be angry at something that doesnt exist" i clapped and said "thats right" my grandma, went into "your going to be screaming out help help in hell, its not a nice place, when youll be weeping and wishing you listened to me" i said "well hell is a religious concept, and to me hell doesnt exist so im not scared, but you definetly are, you base your whole life on fear" i asked "i dont believe in any God, so its a win/win for me, if your wrong, youve wasted your life on something worthless and a waste of time, if your right it doesnt matter because i know plenty of people going to "hell" to that she said "you will be in complete darkness you wont see anyone" i said "bullshit, fire would make light anyway Razz

I asked "how do you know christianity is the right one? u know your just another heathen to every other religion!, to them, your going to their hell" shes like "i know they arnt the right one because they arnt Jesus Christ" u said "but other religions can say that exact same thing about yours, and say their not Allah thats how i know" she got angry my uncle said "how do you know if God did show himself if you would believe him?" she said "because Jesus Christ would say so" what a laugh!!

I said, "your already sinning by letting us non believers in your house" shes like "i should take you home then" i laughed and said "yeah that would be right, even though its 9:30pm" my uncle then said "your also sinning by not tolerating other religious beliefs" me and my uncle were discussing his paganism, she went nuts and kicked us out for a bit.

The funny thing is, the notebook i wrote this down on to remember it, was her religious notebook hahaha.

These are some of the funnies i found in the notebook: (tell me your opinions if you like)

Praise reinforces our relationship with God

People easily fall in love with themselves praise reminds us of who we are

If you dont praise God the stones will cry out

We must choose to praise God, for what he has done for us he gives us a desire

Praise is a daily surrender only the acts of worship and praise

Praise is not what we do for God to get on his good side

Praise is telling God to rule us and take over our lives

God does not like to share his power, his glory, he takes off.

Thats all of what i wrote down, if you want to give your opinion you can (thats why i wanted to tell you)

Oh yeah, i also forgot to add, i hate that show Touched By An Angel, they watch it every night Neutral

and tried to get me too, id leave the room or go for a walk, but they kept harping on about it
I also think that show makes them go deeper and think that their beliefs are more right because of it errr

P.S they are normally alright, but if anything comes up about religion,with anyone, they can normally get a bit heated, even though they arnt as crazy as some others.

Why did you have to get into some petty argument with her in the first place? You should of just left her alone. This is the problem with atheists today, always having to spark some argument when a Christian express their beliefs at any time. It's like any time you hear something religious you just have to start an argument over it and try and remove their belief.

And yes I agree, Touched by an Angel sucks.

i could never say "bullshit" to my grandma. I used to hear hear rush limbaugh (yes, i listen sometimes), and he used to talk about how he like the show "House". Anyway, he doesn't talk about the show anymore; maybe he found out that the main actor is anti-religious?

pseudosun, yeah i know alot of people that dislike House now just because the main actor is anti-religious which is sad because its a great show
