Upon request, I would like to describe what the one-on-one forum is intended to achieve.

In short, it's intended to be a place for one-on-one discussion. One-on-one discussion tends to be of two flavors:

1) Informal
2) Formal

If you wish to informally debate or discuss something with someone, simply let them know and invite them to a thread in this forum. The mods and admins will do their best to keep things on a one-on-one basis between the two parties by removing posts by non-invited parties to The Peanut Gallery. There will be no formal moderation of such debates or discussions beyond the forum rules themselves and the above caveat, however. Should a mod or admin miss an unwelcome interruption in your one-on-one discussion, feel free to PM your favorite one to request that outside talk be removed from your thread.

If you wish for a formal debate, it is up to you to do the following:

1) Find an interlocutor
2) Discuss what rules you wish the moderator of the debate to enforce, preferably (but not necessarily) by PM
3) Invite a moderator (who must be a moderator or administrator of these boards) to moderate the debate according to the rules you have laid out (and let the mod or admin know of the agreed-upon rules)
4) Upon acceptance by the moderator, follow the moderator's instructions

If you have any questions or concerns about this forum, feel free to post them in this thread. Thanks for your attention. I hope you enjoy the new forum!
