a. How do you describe your religious background and church involvement if any?
b. To you, what is God like? Describe God. If they do not believe in God, don't ask

c. What do you think is important and not important to God?
d. What do you think it takes to be straightened out with God?
e. Describe what the term/name Jesus Christ means to you?
f. If you were to attend a church or youth group, what would be important to you?
g. From your perspective, what are some of the major problems you see with
churches and youth ministries? |

a. How do you describe your religious background and church involvement if any? I attended church every Sunday from the ages of 3-8. I was raised Catholic.
b. To you, what is God like? Describe God. If they do not believe in God, don't ask
the next several questions, but ask . . . To you, what is important in life?
Happiness, creating a good foundation for the family I'll have, learning
g. From your perspective, what are some of the major problems you see with
churches and youth ministries?
They speak for god and don't leave much up to interpretation. They use groupthink psychology a lot, too. I once attended a youth group meeting where, when they found out I was waning in my belief for god, refused to give me a lollypop (everyone else got one ) _________________ JANE

c. Important = giving him credit for creating everything, not important = humanity.
d. Total ignorance.
e. It has no more divine importance than the name Gerald Ford.
f. Enjoying myself and making others feel welcome, I suppose.

a. How do you describe your religious background and church involvement if any?
I was raised christian, and attended church every sunday until age 8, when my family didn't have time anymore. They started going again when I was 11, and I didn't go. I still believed in god, but hated the idea of church, for many reasons. Different topic though.
b. To you, what is God like? Describe God. If they do not believe in God, don't ask

To me, god is a figment of humanity's imagination. : ). But really, I think god is a merciless, idiotic, hypocritical, arrogant bag of douche.
No offense, lord.
c. What do you think is important and not important to God?
Meh, i'm answereing anyway.
Important- worshipping him, kissing his ass, saying how awesome he is.
Not important- what people feel or think. He doesn't care about their opinions.
d. What do you think it takes to be straightened out with God?
Doing what's important to him, not caring about anyone but god.
e. Describe what the term/name Jesus Christ means to you?
An imaginary man who also contradicted himself, and his "followers" twist his words to make them ALL good.
f. If you were to attend a church or youth group, what would be important to you?
Making sure I asked enough questions to force everyone to actually think for once.
From your perspective, what are some of the major problems you see with
churches and youth ministries?
Well, seeing as i'm forced to go to church almost every day now at boarding school, I hate the zombie-ness of it all. That's really what made me first question it. And basically, what everyone else has said so far. : ) _________________ Came out of the changing room, and absolutely fuck all had changed.

f. If you were to attend a church or youth group, what would be important to you?
g. From your perspective, what are some of the major problems you see with

A. I was made to go to church until I was 15. I became a Christian at 16 and worked at the church nearly 7 days a week. I lived for Jesus 24/7 until a wise friend convinced me to research the history of Christianity.
B. If there was a god, it would be nothing as conceived by the minds of mankind. If the Christian god was god, he is a complete asshole worthy of having the holy fuck beaten out of him.
C. If there was a god, the human race would mean absolutely nothing to it.
D. From the Christian perspective, it takes the ability to allow ignorance to stand above intelligence; the ability to allow stupidity to over power common sense; and the ability to allow fantasy to over shadow reality.
E. A man that may or may not have existed approximately 2000 years ago and whose followers eventually started one of the bloodiest cults known to mankind.
F. Trying to convince the individuals present to think as a skeptic; work towards convincing them to question their beliefs and to take an analytical view as to how they came to believe what they believe and the circumstances that led to those beliefs
G. Their existence. Churches and youth ministries promote succumbing to feelings that are assumed to be supernatural as determined from an ancient text that is also assumed to have been written with the support from a supernatural being. The majority of church's and/or youth ministries do not support in any way scientific fact, scientific evidence, or skeptical thought. They completely support brainwashing, ingorance, and control. _________________ He flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line

a. I was raised Christian from an early age, baptized at around 9 years of age in a non-denominational church, and confirmed at about 13 years of age in the Episcopal church. My parents never taught me that science and religion were incompatible, and I still don't think that. (Dad is a doctor and mom is a science teacher.) Eventually I concluded that though that organized religion was wrong and that I had no reason to believe in God.
b. When I still believed in God I conceived of him as a very personal entity, but also omniscient, omnipotent, and good. I believe my former conception to be logically impossible. As for other conceptions of deities, I can say only that I've got no reason to believe in them.
c. -
d. -
e. As with Moloth, see b.
f. Patience, tolerance, compassion. I'm not adverse to the Unitarians.
g. They teach people to have faith in rather than criticize authority.
What's important to me now is to explore, know, and understand. I want to study and understand how life emerges from non-life. I want to know and understand how it is I perceive and think. |

That's pretty fucked up right there. How could they not think that maybe this was an insincere way to win belief? |
