Mr_C, I don't have proof of this, but I'm pretty sure he just intended that as a funny little bit, as opposed to what the ultimate question actually is. I believe he has always held the opinion that he'd never answer the question of what the question is to the ultimate answer.
joepallaz, Ring Theory thus far has been been pretty easy... granted all we have done is define a ring and prove a few properties... _________________

Sounds about right. I think it was a wonderfully satirical approach at how humanity is always searching for some sort of deeper meaning in the universe. He pokes fun at this by giving us a most unlikely answer, but then leaves both the fictional characters and the audience paradoxically pondering about some deeper meaning behind a somewhat random number. Both questions are just as arbitrary, and the answers may never be what we as humans would like them to be. |
