How old do you believe the earth to be?

Ha!

The scientific method applied
I predict that bafoons will believe in evolution.

Well, what do you know. My theory is true.

People like this thrive on causing rage. They need it to "win" their fights. Getting worked up about something replaces having to use arguments. WorldNetDaily works with the same formula.

True. There's also a circus-grand-stander type of attitude that goes along with this type of attitude. Like, "Ladieeeees and Gentleeemmmen...I will now demonstrate how stupid the atheist is for believing in evolution..."

It just makes my blood boil. I know it shouldn't, but it does. If this guy were capable of intelligent discourse, however, he might be an atheist. *shudders* I'll let him stay on their side Cool

yeah.. its a sucky situation to be in, but, there is simply no reaching some people.

Even if Jesus himself descended from da heavens and told them "hey.. you know, guys, there is PLENTY of proof for evolution... you should really look into it", they'd ignore it.

Hmmm....

As it turns out you can't put up a comment that is more than 1300 words long and also you can't post twice in a row. I wasn't able to touch upon the missing links yet. He'll probably come out shouting and call me names for that.

Oh well, good really.

That is definitely not a place to conduct a proper debate though.

Gerard

Still at it I'm afraid. He had the gaul to critisize me for equivocating transitional sequences with common descent (did no such thing by the way) while he seems to think it's perfectly allright to equivocate gaps in the fossil record with "evolution is false".

I don't think Gerard, like myself, enjoys giving up. There are so many misconceptions out there that wouldn't be there if it weren't for:
(a) Our education system not doing their job and teaching SCIENCE
and
(b) Fundies who are so deluded by their belief systems that facts hitting them square in the face do not seem to have any effect.

My hope is that someone will come along and read Gerard's and my comments on This Fundy Board and start to think about their beliefs for the first time.

*sighs*
But I'm an optimist...

You're right. I've been in exchanges like this before. The urge to post yet another response gets to you sometimes. I tend to go on until the fundie leaves the thread and starts another one using the same refuted arguments over and over again. In a guestbooklike setting like this one, that'll never happen though.

Very Happy
There are people in this world that desperately need to be given notice of the fact that their opinions are not the norm and shouldn't be taken for granted. Who need to be reminded of that from time to time. If only I have just confronted them with that slightly irritating fact of life for a short moment, that's good enough for me.
