why is there not a political group for atheists in american polotics. there sure as hell are a bunch of christian republicans, democrats, and liberals spreadin and their religion in campaign ads and all that shit. what i want to kno is why do we just fight the system with law suits when we could be a part of the system if not a leader. why hasn't an atheist political party baned together to fight for a religious free nation. we need to do away with these ancient fairytales and start new and fresh with rational thought and logic as a basis for america not reliigious values and all that mess.

ps

anyone that wants to jump on my grammar can kiss my ass its 130 am and i dont care

Atheism has nothing to do with politics. It is simply the rejection of the idea that supernatural deities exist.

You can be an atheist and still support war, banning of abortions, homosexual marriages, and be against secularism.

It just so happens that most atheists are against most of the stuff religious people are for. But, as they say, correlation is not causation.

If voting mattered, I wouldn't vote for someone who ran on an atheist platform just as I wouldn't vote for someone who ran on a Christian platform.

Atheist are a very diverse group. I've often heard that trying to organize atheists is like trying to herd cats.
The ACLU has represented atheist in many legal cases. But that's not really a political group. Atheist can't even agree on what an atheist really is. We've had many long posts in here trying to describe that basic term.

We never jump anyone about their grammar. But we do subtract points for spelling, punctuation, capitalization, sentence structure, and penmanship! Wink

Neither does theism, but it does, So I think we need a group.

Secular politics already exist, no political stance can be taken unique to Atheism... or theism... it's not expansive enough of a belief (because it is only one belief) to encompass an entire political theory.

So, the answer is No.

No, but religions themselves do as they are all centered around some sort of political philosophy.

I agree with everyone whos posted, its silly to think you can lump all atheists into a single political philosophy.

For kicks, try to get a Communist and a libertarian into the same room and agree on anything.

The Atheist Party would be a one issue party. We'd fight like cats and dogs. There would be NO solidarity on anything, and we'd fracture in about 3 nano-seconds.

One issue political parties are most successful as special interest groups.

maybe not a political party but it would be good if we had an atheist council, since the muslims have the muslim council of Britain

thye could make sure that laws arent made because of the religous beliefs of the law maker e.g. abortion being made illegal for being an affront to the lord

My dearest Comrades!

There may come a day when we Atheists abandon the struggle to keep the glorious Kim Il Jung regime in power.

But it is not this day.

Vote yes for North Korean expansion NOW!
