Wrong.

Laughing This coming from the person who got body slammed into the ground by a cop, like you’d just committed a murder or something...which is the same exact shit they pulled with Josh over a failure to appear warrant from running a stop sign 10 fucking years ago. Imo, law enforcement cause more problems than they alleviate.

Yes, but if the choices are municipal police and roving bands of armed thugs...sorry, I choose the police.

do you reeeeeeeeeeeeeally mean that?

Yes, and I feel the same way about the legislators. They have so much power that they aren't even held accountable when they break the very same laws they enforce or pass...you don't find that alarming and dangerous? Why is it every time I see a cop, he's breaking at least one law that I'm required to abide by? They are no different than you and I and should be subject to the very same laws, not above them. What really gets me is that we're paying these asswipes to stalk and harrass us.

Thug vs. thug. Hmm, maybe we need different choices. Laughing

I agree, Chrissy, that it is reprehensible that some cops feel and act as if they were above the law. You can be penalized for doing what they do without consequence. I am naturally extremely wary of cops.

absolute power corrupts absolutely, and when you KNOW that you can say and do whatever you want, and the powers that be will always take your word over that of a normal citizen, when you are required to carry a deadly weapon, when you know can break any number of laws in the normal pursuit of your duties and when you know that you can get away with any attitude you want, it can CERTAINLY build a perfect asshole.

this is all tempered, of course, when i hear of a cop getting gunned down by some thug during a standard traffic stop, leaving behind a wife/husband and children.

These are people, like soldiers and firemen, who's job description includes "on any given day you could be killed without warning".

I;ve met dick cops and i;ve met cool cops.
like with anything else, it depends on the individual.

I'm far from a pussy, jackoff. I just don't believe that the "Last Man Standing" method of law enforcement is a sound philosophy.

My question is why is it when a cop harms a citizen, the typical reaction is: He had it coming! He resisted! But when a citizen harms a cop, the typical reaction is: ZOMFG no he didn't! Life in prison! No one ever thinks about the wife/husband and children of the people who hurt the "good guys". Man, that's a scary trend.

Being killed in the line of duty is a risk those people were willing to take when they signed up for that job. Their real job description is to keep the peace, yet they use unecessary violence to keep us in line or keep the peace as they like to call it. Anyone on any given day could be killed without warning, even people like you and I who sit behind computers and push mouse all day...and I wonder what the odds are that a cop will be there to prevent it? Probably slim to none, because they are too busy out stalking our wallets.

You've met cool cops? Really? Think Nah, I'm just kidding. I've met a few cool cops, but way more dicks.

Since when are those two particular choices, the actual, and only choices?

Moreover what's the difference between them? IOW:

In scenario A you are murdered by a band of armed thugs.

In scenario B you are murdered by a band of police. (armed thugs in uniform)

The difference that I see, is that in scenario B you were murdered by accident,
because the police can not be trusted to even use "non-lethal" weapons properly, and probably no one will be held accountable for there fuck up, even AFTER all the facts surrounding your death become known.

I was simply replying to the scenario someone else presented. Our police departments, as well as our judicial system and departments of corrections, are in definite need of some fixing. I don't think anyone will debate that point. But of the two choices, to say that replacing our law enforcement system with bands of vigilantes is somehow beneficial to the individual and society as a whole is ridiculous.

At least everything would be cooler.

Plus I'd rather have my obituary say "Killed by vigilantes", makes me sound interesting. People would be looking me up on wikipedia no doubt about it.
