The Rick Copeland grew up in Detroit and spent some time around Michigan. Once you get out of the Metro-Deetroit area it's quite a pretty state... |
Yeah, same here. Born and raised in the Detroit area, where my dad's from, but spent a lot of my time, especially summers, 'up North' about 4 to 5 hours drive. My mom's from Cross Village, near Petoskey, and I have family spread all around there, even on Mackinac Island, so I've taken that ferry quite a few times back and forth for visits. Mom and sisters all live up that way now too, so I still get up to Northern Michigan as often as I can. Step-dad had a family farm up in the thumb area, so spent lots of time there too, and I had a job in Grand Rapids a few years back that let me explore the West side of the state for about a year.
Other than that, I've personally been pretty much on the road all over the U.S. since I got out of school half a lifetime ago, but I manage to get back to Michigan once or twice a year usually for visits between work assignments, which is what I've been doing since July - 'home' in Detroit and visiting up North every few weeks. _________________ Yeah... It's jacaranda time in Johannesburg ... the whole city (which, allegedly, is the world's largest artificial forest) looks like this:
These photos were taken this afternoon, at the University of the Witwatersrand, where I work. |

Here are some more pictures taken at Seaview Lion Sanctuary, near Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.

Andreusz, those trees are awsome! And the architecture is beautiful. _________________ "I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Make Myself Observed, I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Let Myself Be Heard..." - Seether, Out Of My Way
