by the way, what does 'No need to be snitty ya spalpeen!' mean? it's got me confused

Sorry,I thought you were Irish.

"snitty" means bad tempered.

My understanding is "spalpeen" comes from the Gaelic "spailpin" .Today the meaning has changed and the word is used in good natured banter, it means a "rascal" or a mischievious and cunning person. Origin; C18th.

In Dublin, it's a "Jackeen". I gather it's a bit like an Aussie calling someone "an old bastard"

My apologies if I've gone and all confused again. I'd have asked himself (me da) but I can't ,seeing as he's been dead for nearly two years.

Ahh, Gaelic, well I'm from Belfast and attended a protestant school.

Speak Gaelic at your own risk up here *sigh*

Surely though god would look down on people paying for prayers tutting. Buying your way into heaven? He'd say before crossing you off the list

But why would Atheist fare worse? Surely an all seeing god would rewards people for their kindness not their money. People who give money for prayers are demanding that god takes notice of them. So if an atheist dedicates their entire life to being kind and helping others would not go to heaven but an evil cruel theist who repents on their death bed would go to heaven? Please explain.

This is not a view shared by all theists.

Last year a catholic arch bishop here in Australia opined that a sincere atheist will go to heaven. Imo this is a rational extension of christian notions of free will and conscience. To punish a sincere non believer for non belief is a denial of free will.

Organised religions seem to have difficulty reconciling their desire to control with individual free will.

God would go by what Jesus recommends, and Jesus has said that the way is through him. You cannot go to heaven unless you accept Jesus as the son of God and his removal of the original sin by dying on the cross. The Australian bishop blasphames and needs a refresher course in christianity by reading Corinthians.

Basically what you have said if you don't believe in God you're going to hell despite how much good you have done. It's exactly reasons like this I don't respect religion

In Indic religions, there is no way a person with good deeds can be sent to hell, irrespectice of his faith. The Gods will receive him/her at the gates. Actually feroceous dark people are sent with buffaloes to get the erring souls, but an aircraft (vimana) with best of attendants (generally male, the messengers of Yama's office are usually that, although hell may have hedeous female wardens) is sent to get the good souls (http://www.thelivingmoon.com/42stargate/04images/Vimana/MSC-vimana_Ellora200.jpg).
