I finally saw the movie. I wasn't going to pay for it, but a guy at work burned me a copy.
First off the fall at the beginning would have killed any man. I worked in fall protection and even a six foot fall on a side loop of a harness would shatter your back.
Jesus bled more than a fucking elephant. Even after being flailed to a BBQ Pork chop he still had enough blood to squirt when he was being nailed to the cross and enough left over to bleed down the cross.
It got to be humorous. I'm glad I didn't see it in a theater as I was giggling the entire time double palm facing as I felt shame for Christianity and Christians everywhere.
How ANYONE could have left the theater thinking that bullshit was anything but a SICK fantasy is beyond my comprehension!
Lord of the Rings was more believable!
Mel Gibson is one sick SOB!
It is literally beyond my comprehension how any SANE person can take that story as history! I mean WTF?!? In the 21st century, the majority of my country thinks this happened?!?

Heh. I saw the movie in the theaters and actually bought it when I was a believer. I remember thinking that it was a very Catholic movie (as opposed to Protestant), although I couldn't elaborate on that now since I haven't watched it in a long time.
I kinda liked the whole light/dark; good/evil dichotomy going on in the movie. Other than that, it was pretty gory. _________________ "If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflating our conceits?"

Well, you may have seen this already, but since you just seen the movie I think you should check this out. If you laughed your way through the movie itself you'll love this:
Also, if you haven't already, also check out the southpark episode, "The Passion of the Jew". One of my favorite episodes of all time. Its freely available for viewing on the official southpark webpage. _________________ "I love and treasure individuals as I meet them; I loathe and despise the groups they identify with and belong to" -George Carlin

When I saw it in the theater I saw it with my whole fundy family. I wasn't a christian anymore at the time, but I was able to suspend my disbelief and kind of pretend like I still bought the whole christ myth. So basically, I saw Jesus as the protagonist and felt very sympathetic to him. It was an emotional rollercoaster putting yourself in the position of the guy getting the snot beat out of you for two hours straight. I kind of enjoyed it even though I realized how over-the-top violent it was. Afterward, my brother (also an apostate) commented on how Catholic of a movie it was.
The thing I thought was completely fucking stupid was the stuff with the devil. That was fucking retarded. _________________ "I love and treasure individuals as I meet them; I loathe and despise the groups they identify with and belong to" -George Carlin

Aye, I want to go see this movie when I was a christian, my entire church went to go see it.
Looking back on it, I realize how big o' pile of rubish it was, and how the packed theatre reacted.
Every one was crying, praying... like they had never heard the story before or something! Then they left and were all, "OH that was a great movie, it totally captured the essence of christ's suffering!"... yeah. Sure. Keeping telling your self that, kinda like you keep on telling your imaginary friends to grant your prayers.
I did love the temple splitting in the end, it reafirmed just how much of a mythical story we were talking about _________________ "I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Make Myself Observed, I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Let Myself Be Heard..." - Seether, Out Of My Way

Oh, was that ever one funny episode. I had to look up what Cartman was speaking with the crowd afterward.

then
On topic, I still have never seen the movie. _________________ "The very existence of flame throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.' - George Carlin

I always wondered as why vilify the Jews for "killing" Jesus (another Jew), and at the same time to say that his crucifiction was absolutely essential for salvation.
It doesn't make sense. _________________ "Orwell was a visionary. He just got the date wrong."
