I saw an article on how a Danish university has made an open source beer, using the software license to apply to a real project. Here is the link for those who brew (Saul, I am looking at ya).

I can see why such a project would be appealing to the Danish. To my knowledge beer is ludricously expensive in those parts.
I live in the land of Heineken and Grolsch, and those are both damn tough acts to beat, so I wonder if I'll ever take up such a hobby.
While we're on one of my favorite subjects though, I'm curious... about home-drafting systems.
In Holland there are two options.
1. Invest in either a Perfectdraft or a Beertender. Both are easy to use (due to the clever beer-cooling system), so the choice would primarily be on the basis of the beerkegs are available for each regarding system. Beertender works with beer from the Heineken cooporation, and Perfectdraft has a contract with Belgian InBev.
2. Special home-draft kegs with a buit in tap. Some minor assembly required, and it takes ten days in the fridge for it too cool off sufficiently.
I'm curious if Miller and Bud have introduced something simillar (at least option 2) to the american market.

Miller and Bud are piss water, the last thing they want is people brewing their own flavorful beer.
There's a bunch of different home brew systems on the market in the States. Mr. Beer is one of the more popular ones and has a home keg with tap that comes with their kits.
Edit: Strike that, that's just the brewer made to look like a keg. There are some home kegging systems to have your own draft beer through google. Pretty pricey, though.

Like making love in a canoo, I know. I'm not interrested in the beer, or brewing my own, but curious about the availability of home-drafting systems. So far it seems that the dutch market is pioneering in this regard.

I know. One of those 4 liter kegs will stay good for weeks after opening. I've got higher priorities right now, but I'd definately love to own one. They're not even that expensive (some 140 euros, which is still less than 200 bucks I reckon), and special Heiny kegs are available at the local super.
I can see why introducing that system in the US would pose a problem. The contract between the homedraft-system manufactorer, and the brewer (an nessecary collaboration) is what complicates things. Heineken deliberately only exports, and does not utelize a US based brewery, so every Heiny you drink, really DID come straight out of the Holland. So even if the Beertender could be manufactured locally, the Heineken kegs would still have to be imported. An american system is legally conceivable (Phillips got away with their PerfectDraft, even though Krupp tried to prevent it in court), but then you'd probably be stuck with kegs from either the Miller or the Budweiser mothercompanies.
Maybe Heineken will start exporting those stand-alone draftkegs in the nearby future. That would be would be pretty sweet also, right?

Yep! Those Heineken mini-kegs have reached us! At least in those kegs, the Heiny won't be skunked!
Green beer bottles allow fluorescent light and/or sunlight to interact with compounds found in hops which results in that typical Heiny skunky or burnt rubber taste and aroma. Lovely.
And... No! It's not supposed to taste like that!
As for the "Free Beer" concept: I homebrew. I wouldn't brew that recipe without some changes! The grist is OK for an amber ale (Brown malt is pretty hard to find... but you can make your own by toasting pale malt in your oven!) Main problem with that recipe is extremely low hop bitterness, flavor, and aroma! They are aiming at the lowest-common-denominator of beer drinkers (just like Bud-Miller-Coors do!) And finally, Guarana... in beer? Trendy gimmick which does nothing for the beer itself! I'd eliminate it!
Most homebrewers laugh at the idea of an "open source" recipe! We pretty much share recipes pretty freely anyway!
