Wink Growing up

I attended a non-denominational christian church and went to bible school. I was never baptized, just wanted to eat the cracker and drink the juice.

My mom taught me to not believe everything I heard and never forced the christian belief onto me, and I thank her for that.

Always believed that one day I would accept Jesus and prayed sometimes in the hope of a miracle, but as time passed and I started to use my brain for which it had evolved "thinking”. An intense interest in politics and world affairs started to appear after 9-11. Seeing how religion was becoming more involved in domestic and world policy I stated to take a hard look at my belief and how dangerous it was as more and more fundamentalist views were being presented.

Other issues that caused me pause was the hypocrisy of religious leaders, the gullibility of their flock, the President speaking to “gOd”, and people asking me to believe in a book of “truth” that in no way answers or explained any of my questions.

I am an atheist and a skeptic. I am here to hone my debate skills, but am open to new insights into all religions if they can be discussed in a civil manner.
