I was thinking of printing out a note and leaving it in there with it, but I need some ideas.

Get / print some of this stuff, and use liberally:

One time I opened the front cover and wrote:

SPOILER:
God isn't real.

I'm sure the hotels prefer pissing on the bible to stealing their towels.

I'm pretty sure that defacing the Gideon Bible in any way simply confirms to believers that atheists are precisely the sort of jerks they already think we are. I admire your zeal, but think it needs to be redirected to more constructive ends.

Honestly, if you want to get people to to notice some of the crazy stuff, just get some sticky notes, 6-10 will suffice, then fine the, evenly split, nastiest IN context bits you can, and the part in matthew about "changing the law not one jot or tittle till I come again"

It will make them think, maybe, and thats what we want, right?

Pack manicure scissors, tape, and a red crayon.

Fashion a pop up devil.

Years ago my brother had a hand stamp he stole from from our library...he would stamp all types of books...magazines in waiting rooms, etc.... but his favorite was to stamp Bibles in Motel rooms. I don't remember exactly but it went something like 'property of Saskatoon Public Library. Please return"...then he would write beside it 'see 'whatever' treference in the Bible had 'Thou shall Not Steal' ....then underline it in the Bible.

I doubt too many people will take you seriously if all you did was deface a Bible.

You'd probably do better to remove it and Replace it with a copy of "The God Delusion" or some other pro-atheist book.

They won't read that.

My idea managed to have multiple things going for it.

First,

It is not rude, not in the slightest. Sticky Notes leave no residue, so you are not crassly damaging a bible, offended people are close minded.

Second,

It uses their own book against them,

Third,

Knowing the verses to go to, means you have a better knowledge of the bible which is helpful in general atheist things

Ne?

I cant speak for all Christians, but if I saw somebody put sticky notes in the Bible like that, while I wouldnt be 'offended' but I'd think 'Somebody is immature and/or has too much time on their hands,' and wouldnt give it any serious thought. Whereas if there was a pro-atheist book there I might be inclined to at least flip through it, even if I didnt read the entire thing(actually I HAVE read 'The God Delusion' but thats another story).

It was just a thought, anyway
