Every other one of my immediate family members is Christian - the one exception being my sister, who is indecisive about choosing Christianity or atheism. Growing up in the deep southeast didn't help, nor did being pushed into Bible School as a child. I had been going to church for most of my life, mostly at the request of my grandmother during early childhood. My parents are Christian, but are much more casual about their faith. Anyway...
I attended all the various sermons and ceremonies, but my heart was never in it. I was critical of my own religion, made frequent sacrilegious statements, and pointed out every fault I saw in religion. It wasn't until age 14 that I questioned why I even believed in Christianity any more, a decision I couldn't be happier about making. I looked at different sources, some biased and some not, that gave more information on the absurdities and contradictions contained in Christianity's lone Bible. I actually read back through, the entire book, with the questioning eye instead of the one of blind faith. I noticed inconsistencies and disproven statements I had paid no attention to, and several years later, here I am.
I have only ever tried to "convert" my sister, and even that was barely an effort. I'm strongly against indoctrination and dogma-slinging, so I left the choice up to her - look at the evidence I had given her, look at the evidence Christianity had given her, and to consider which she had faith in. I doubt I will ever try to truly convert someone, but rather give them the facts and let them make a choice.
I look forward to my time here, and I'm rather interested. So....hello. |

It is not dogmatic to strongly encourage someone to think his/her self. Intellectual independence is the anti-dogma. _________________ “Here, here's American Gladiators. Welcome to you aswell again
Thanks for your comment!
I tried to show my sister how i feel too
(shes christian and goes to an all girls private school, thats religious, so im assuming she hasnt really been shown this stuff as my mums religious and put her there) but it didnt work, she refused to listen, doesnt matter really.
My grandparents are the main ones, that are religious, i went to sunday school because they wanted me to go to church with them as a child (i wonder sometimes what was the point of that when i was too young to understand it myself).
I was also pushed to do it when i was about 10-12 but stopped going after awhile because they saw how bored i got and id go wondering off during mass
Im critical about religion like you, i cant see it any other way even if i wanted too now, i cant change my knowledge i could try and make myself believe but i couldnt.
I hope you enjoy your time here
