nah, i just tend to talk in character (especially accents) when i'm in guild chat. i never really go out of my way to simply role-play.

Are the other WoW players pondering what I'm pondering?

You call these hours casual? Holy fuck do y'all have some time to spend or what. No wonder you're a newb in WoW if you don't have at least 2 70s. Guess if you compared yourself to:

Man dies playing online game

or

Infant Daughter Dies as Parents Play Online Game

yeah, then you're a casual gamer. I don't even have half the hrs played as Moloth's Xfire is showing and I created my eq2 account 4 days after WoW launch.

The average WoW player, from what I've read, plays about 19-20 hrs / week and this was before an 18% drop off the end of last year. I'm not seeing 20+ hrs a week as casual, back in "the day", maybe, but now? No.

Guess it's the age old game-designer problem of trying to define a casual gamer. Smile

lol... i'm single, out of school for the Summer and nothing to do late in the evening. i play WoW for about 2 hours a night. thats like an evening of prime-time TV or a movie. big whoop.

keep in mind that the TOTAL hours are from FOUR YEARS of playing the game. hell, i was in Beta for it.

EDIT: also... even after for playing off and on for 4 years.. i have yet to have a single 70. my main is 69 3/4. i enjoying playing the regular game so much, i just have no desire to get into the rat-race that is 'end game content'.

The best thing in WoW is the community. Sure, on the outside it seems childish and idiotic but the Role-playing community on Steamwheedle Cartel EU is the only reason why I continue to play.

If you want to raid it's about 4 hrs/raid night. You'll raid from 3-5 days a week, and additional hours will come from daily quests to get money to buy potions, elixirs, flasks and etc.

Sounds like my old EQ guild. Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday were required raid days, miss 2 raids and you were kicked out. Plus a required Epic Quest raid schedule throughout the month.

I had WAY too much time on my hands then....

Sheesh. There's a big plus to PotBS, it doesn't require near as much time and sounds much better for people who have a life offline. Unless you're in a port battle you can drop out of a group if you're in one, sail back to a port, and logoff anytime you want when you're not in a battle. There aren't PvP servers like that. PvP arises around any port where one nation has been attacking another a lot in the viscinity. A red PvP zone circle pops up after so many points are built up, and if points keep going up the zone gets bigger, ending with a port battle with the port going to whichever country wins the battle, and PvP drops to zero around that port.
