Agreed. I started with EQ, then moved to WoW..just recently quit that. I try to play EVE but my IQ is not high enough. With WoW, it's only a matter of time before you consider stabbing yourself in the face for any number of reasons. Especially on a horribly imbalanced PvP server. |

Eww yes, unbalanced 4tw. As much as I enjoyed being the underdog, it got annoying at times.
*Sigh* If they would make world pvp (Tarren Mill vs Southshore... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) a viable alternative to the same battle ground over and over and over and over, I would TOTALLY be back on wow. _________________ "I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Make Myself Observed, I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Let Myself Be Heard..." - Seether, Out Of My Way

| If they would fix the PvP PERIOD, it would be a great game. But nothing changes. The gaurds respawn, you run back to your corpse, you pay a few s/c/g to repair..meh. 70's can kick the shit out of 62's, camp them, get honor..it's just stupid. |

WoW, been playing for a year or two now, just finished up with my second 70, quite casual.
PvP severs are great IF your on a small sever, but then you have to deal with the other issues of a small sever.

Oh and if you play wow, playing with a close friend(s) makes it far more fun. I had gotten to 70 on a PVERP sever on my own for the most part and it got old fast, but when I rerolled to a pvp sever with two other friends and we all leveled together it was far more fun. _________________ We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all

Yeah, I guess if I had friends to play with, I would do alot better. I know my one and only 59 (woulda been a 60 but some SON OF A *@&!^$*)!@^$!@ hacked it about 100 mobs away from ding... and it had over 3000g because I ninjaed a flaming skull shield in Alterac at level 52 ) priest was really fun, but that was when my friend played. I have tried every class, and its just... boring without friends.
So yeah, wow if you have friends. _________________ "I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Make Myself Observed, I Cant Pass Up This Opportunity To Let Myself Be Heard..." - Seether, Out Of My Way

Thanks for the intelligent replies. So much better than the "WOW RULEZ!!", "EQ2 is for REAL gamers who know how to play MMOs" and the "I love/hate the cartoony look of WoW" that make up the total discussion on other boards.
Sounds like WoW may be it for me then. I just can't make the total commitment to the games that i used to. How is the LFG grouping on there? Is it pretty easy to get grouped or do you have to sit for hours getting the right level/class together to go hunting like back on EQ in the day? _________________ I am jack's smirking revenge. - Fight Club

i have found grouping to be stupidly easy. for questing and for instances/dungeons. also, don;t be afraid to 'shop around' for a guild that suits you. if you want help and nice people, stay away from PvP servers. I'm on Shadow Council server, if you want to join up. i'm in a very nice guild and have plenty of ways to help you out. i really enjoy showing noobies the ropes. _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

I've played WoW since release with about 8 months or so total time on break spread out across that time. WoW is a good choice if you're a casual player up and until 70, in my humble opinion. Then your options on what to do really dry up, but unfortunately that seems to be the nature of the beast with MMO's in general. Once you've hit the end game in most games it seems the developers turn to the tired and true method of throwing dozens of raid areas to the game.
That being said, I think you'll thoroughly enjoy your time getting to 70. WoW has a good pacing, interesting places to explore, and a really interesting storyline. If you're a fan of the Warcraft universe (Like I've been ever since Orcs & Humans) then you'll giggle with nostalgia when you visit some of the more prolific areas/people.
One other MMO I've heard is casual friendly is Lord of the Rings Online. Gameplay is very similar to WoW's, except it's the Lord of the Rings universe. You get a good storyline, monster PvP, and bunch of other stuff to do. I don't know how the end game is though. My complaint about the game is the classes: Too few and not terribly interesting.
Myself, I'm not actually playing an MMO at this moment as my schedule is too erratic to justify a subscription but the last game I was subbed too was LotRO as I haven't really played that one yet and it looked interesting.
Hope you find what you're looking for! _________________ "Not everything that steps out of line, and thus 'abnormal', must necessarily be 'inferior'" - Hans Asperger, 1938 |

Yeah I played on an RP sever... I know your dirty little secrets, and yes I have pics.
