Welcome, Jezza.

I had a somewhat similar experience with religion, but my parents were both more like your dad.

Both of them believed in God. My mom's was panicky and terrified. It was something along the lines of saying "everything will be ok" while hiding under a desk with your eyes closed. My dad's is mostly just an assertion. He says he believes in God, but when questioned about specifics which don't mention God, answers like an atheist.

I remember similar things being said about going to hell by people at church and by my religious friends. It struck me about the same way.

Anyhow, you might want to check out the introductions thread for more about the people who are on the forum. I haven't read it yet, but I don't have your patience (42 pages! There's no way I'd wade through that:)). You might also want to check out the pictures thread. It's interesting to see what all these people actually look like when not in an avatar.

Also i started thinking, why would God make me deaf? if he did make me why would he do this to me and people like me? why would he let people die such painful deaths? why would he let people with disabilities be born to be murdered? etc..

Yeah, people with disabilities get to question the suffering in the world right away. A lot of other people wait till something personal happens that only applies to them, like suffering was taking a break before they came around.

Haha, I remember thinking that too, actually I still do I'm waiting for a good answer. You'd think he'd love us.

Greetings to another new member. If only I had a father like yours - I'm fairly happy that my parents aren't as devout as others, though.
