I'm listening to the bible geek with bob price and he mentions jesus got the name jesus after his death.

Do you know what book it was in I thought it was in luke but I heard wrong.
these kinds of things are why I don't believe jesus existed.

I find the interpretation Price asserts questionable, however.

I think it's a pre--Pauline hymn, as Price does: but I think that the name that is above any other could easily be meant to be "Lord."

His name was Jesus.
Are you asking what his name was before he "was given the name 'Jesus'"? If so, I have no idea. But if Price's interpetation is right, it doesn't matter: for "Jesus" itself would then be a title. It means "YHWH is salvation."

No. Your name, for instance, probably means "ancient" from latin (although it's actually an obscure etymology).
I know many people named "Joshua" nowadays. That's the same name Jesus had, essentially. Jesus is just anglicized. It doesn't preclude those people's existence, however. And it has nothing to do with the existence of God.

not in it's meaning but if someone "chose" to give it to him when they wrote the bible and created "jesus".
