I can't (though can if I want to) believe what I just saw and what I read in the post replies.
Some of you thought this was okay? Shocked
Ends with....talking about being vegetarian-what does that have to do with the vid?
baby...snake...adults with cameras...laughing.....watching....enjoying.
That's not on a par with any sport I can think of (someone mentioned horseracing and bull fighting etc)-that's just idiotic and sick.

I didn't know there was a baby sport-never seen that on the tv or olympic games.

Yeah...let's have more of these practices-what a wonderful world.

Still, it's not a fair match though. need a bigger snake and perhaps tie the baby's hands and feet too.

It is a dicey situation. Our books say 'Jeevo Jeevasya Bhojanam' (One living being is food to another). Then there is a famous story of one who was considered the epitome of 'dharma' in Bhagwat Purana and a brahmin was sent to him to learn 'dharma'. Surprisingly, the person, 'Dharmavyadha', was a butcher. When the brahmin asked if killing animals was not against 'dharma'. Dharmavyadha said it was not. It was the profession in his family, it was his 'dharma'. He sold good merchandise to his customers, charged them fairly, looked after the interests of his servants, served his parents, cared for his family, fed the guests and mendicants. Dharmavyadha explained that with each step we take, we kill living beings. So, this is something that cannot be avoided.

I do not know where to draw a line. Perhaps killing animals for food is all right.

As a Buddhist, I would say that your karma depends on your intention and how much wisdom you use carrying out that intention. If you intend to feed your family, that is different then intending to feel more powerful by being cruel to anything.

You become what you think about most of the time. If you act with wise compassion, you become wise and compassionate. If you act with foolish cruelty, you become foolish and cruel.
