Hello all,
I thought I'd take this new "Love Shack" section for a test drive with a topic that I'm sure everyone here as some sort of opinion on. Let's see how long we can keep it going before it winds up in "Enter the Darkness" shall we?
Rather than asking the old question, "What is God?" I thought I'd put a spin on it and instead ask, "How does one go about finding God?".
The reason I ask is because, in all seriousness, it's something I've pondered ever since becoming an atheist and something I will probably ponder for the rest of my days. I was a Christain once and I will admit that there are times that I wonder if I may have left something behind.
I'd welcome any response, atheist, theist and everyone inbetween _________________ "Not everything that steps out of line, and thus 'abnormal', must necessarily be 'inferior'" - Hans Asperger, 1938 |

As far as "finding" God, if the theist God does exist and doesn't want to be found, it would probably be impossible to find "him", wouldn't it?

apparently all you have to do is completely believe in him and you'll find him.
so i guess what they mean is:
1 go outside tonight
2 look at the sunset
3 instead of thinking, "rayleigh scattering," believe the fact that "god wanted you to see those colors" _________________ there's a reason christians are called "sheep" |

There is no right way or wrong way to find god. We are individuals and for those who have a desire it will happen according to their personality, not according to their belief. The saying seek and you shall find does work. I had this discussion before in a thread with another questioner who wanted instant answers and instant god experience. It really is simple and easy when all is said and done. Humans have made it very difficult with their gazillion rules and how tos and my way is best. Well, your way is best whatever that would be. Let go and let god is the quickest way though and you'll know when it happens.
May the force be with you |

I truly feel its an individual thing, its an experience that to ME, will probably never be able to walk away from it. God is not hiding, we either keep him away with our choices or are lead to him with our choices _________________ "Love Life" |

How do you find a god that IS hiding.
God IS hiding. The universe seems to run fine without him. _________________ K Michau
