Make a guess on how many years and how big a fine he gets.

No doubt he'll get a far harsher sentence than most burglars and rapists. The government is surprisingly harsh when it comes to their money.

Would be funny if the prison library refused to provide anything but books explaining the theory of evolution.

Ya but most prisons have large religious populations as the religious people feed on the weak people new to prison and convert them to their side.

being religious is likely to protect hovind. as I understand it prisoners often respect religious peers, and leave them alone. (at least most do)

I will be curious what kind of sentence he gets. I will be checking www.cseblogs.com this afternoon to see if there is an update. I am sure they will be writing to either thank god for "delivering hovind" (assuming he is acquitted) or blaming his incarceration on evolution.

My guess: 25 years, $500,000 fine
I've had this date saved on my calendar for a while now.

I don't wanna go to jail, I wanna not pay over 3/4 of a million dollars worth of taxes and get away with it! Crying or Very sad

You know, they got Al Capone for tax evasion.

You're in good company, Kent. Laughing

Interesting...Another Lie by the Reporter!! Fri Jan 19, 2007 8:41 am
Well, well, well. Mr. Stewart has screwed up again. He has written that the maximum that Dr. Hovind could spend in prison is 288 years, and Mrs. Hovind could spend 225 years in prison. This would be true if the method for calculating sentence was to add up all the years end to end. Unfortunately, this is not correct. According to Federal Statutes, they will serve all sentences at the same time, which would mean that the longest they spend in prison is the term for the worst infraction, which would be 14 years for each.

Mr. Stewart, if you are going to be reporting on law and trials, do your homework and make sure your information is correct before submitting an article for publishing.

Well, that clears that up.

Please pray for us and Judge Casey Rogers on Friday morning, January 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Judge Rogers can rule in any number of ways. Pray specifically for an acquittal to be granted or that the Eleventh Circuit will grant our motion for release and turn the case over on appeal. The acquittal would be best for all involved.

He should have had them pray for one or the other. God must have gotten confused. My prayer to the jug of milk, on the other hand, was answered!
