Hi all, this is my introduction and shameless plug for my new blog: Oz Atheist
I live in NSW Australia after emigrating from England as a young lad (I'm now a LOT older).
I grew up in a church/religious family, CofE/Baptist, but after some thinking and change of lifestyle I stopped being 'religious'. However I never truly counted myself as an Atheist until recently, I guess I was just lazy ( a natural trait for me ) and didn't really think about it. This all changed recently mainly due to watching Richard Dawkins' show 'The Root of all Evil?', I decided that I was an Atheist and probably had been for many years.
However, I'm still to publicly announce this to friends and relatives, they know I'm not religious, but I've never actually come out and said "I don't believe in your, or anyone else's gods, I'm an Atheist and proud of it. I'm also very happy and fulfilled in my life".
There's some more background about me in the 'About' page on my blog. ( shameless plug again )
Glad to be onboard _________________ OzAtheist

"Change of lifestyle" by OzAtheist? Does it involve Judy Garland, ruby slippers or being 'over the rainbow' in some way? _________________ -=The Believer is Happy; the Skeptic is Wise=-

NO (not that there's anything wrong with that ). I joined the Defence Force, they may have had chaplains but the atmosphere was very non-religious. Young men learning how to shoot, playing sports, drinking lots, picking up women (or at least trying to); we had lots more to do than bother with religion! _________________ OzAtheist

Welcome from Oz, OzAtheist.
I see you have looked at the Man behind the curtain and found out that it is not what it claimed to be. _________________ “The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see.” - Ayn Rand |

just found out that there are 2 ozatheist (looks like we came up with the same name only a couple of months apart)
the one over on youtube and myspace is not me
my only web presence, so far, is at http://ozatheist.wordpress.com/, here, and a few blog comments
I do not have a youtube or myspace account
Whilst we are both atheists, I wouldn't like to think people were confusing his comments for mine or vis versa
all posts from me will have my wordpress blog link in them. _________________ OzAtheist

Way further north than that! Somewhere north of Sydney on the coast.
Though I do have a relative in Melbourne, and try to get to Melbourne fairly often, its a great place. Was there in April for the Comedy Festival. _________________ OzAtheist
